I Traveled into the Future and Became the Alpha’s Luna Chapter 06
That night.
Margaret brought me my usual warm milk.
“Luna, I’m sorry.”
She handed it to me and apologized softly. “I almost said too much today…”
“It’s fine.”
I gave her a tired smile. “I know you were just
worried about me.”
“I’m okay.”
Margaret looked relieved. She told me to drink my
milk and get some sleep, then left.
When the door closed.
I took the cup into the bathroom.
And poured the milk out.
The white liquid stuck to the toilet bowl, then
washed away.
I went to Julian myself.
He didn’t seem surprised.
Julian was wearing a sleeveless shirt.
A clean towel hung around his neck. He wiped off
some sweat and walked over.
He’d washed his hands specially. He opened a
bottle of water and held it out.
When I didn’t take it.
Julian just smiled and took a drink himself.
“You wanna ask me something, honey?”
I looked at the group of guys messing around in the distance. “Can we talk somewhere-”
He cut me off. “Sure.”
At a milk tea shop.
Julian ordered shaved ice, took a bite, and
shivered a little.
“What were we?”
I paused, forcing the words out. “What were we to
each other?”
Julian didn’t answer.
Just looked at me.
“You forgot?”
“Something like that.”
Julian bit his spoon and answered my question. “I guess… boyfriend and girlfriend?”
“Did we sleep together?”
He laughed at how blunt I was. He swallowed a
big chunk of ice.
“No.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Didn’t wanna let you regret it, honey.”
“Like now. You got what you wanted from me,
threw me away, said it was over like it was
nothing.”
“Going back to your family all clean.”
When I just stared.
Julian went back to looking like a careless punk.
“Touching, right?”
“Kidding.”
He shoveled more ice in his mouth.
“Relax.”
“I don’t have the guts to touch an Alpha’s woman.”
I hadn’t been sleeping well lately.
I kept running through things in my head.
-Julian wasn’t my type.
I didn’t feel anything for him.
I looked at myself a million times.
Even if I’d changed. Even if I’d fallen for Julian.
I’d never have another man’s kid before ending
things with my husband.
I’d always been serious about relationships.
If I fell for someone else, I’d end the first
relationship before starting a new one.
I started to wonder if there was more to the story.
The day before we were supposed to see the pack
healer.
Caleb was slammed. I called him at three and
some beta answered.
His assistant said the Alpha hadn’t eaten lunch
yet.
My heart hurt for him. I brought some mushroom
soup to the pack’s main building.
Everyone recognized me.
They all bowed.
But while I was waiting for Caleb outside the
council hall, I heard voices around the corner.
“Alpha and Luna seem so close. She came all the
way here to bring him soup.”
“What do you know? I heard Luna’s been with some stray wolf for a while now. And he’s so
whipped he just takes it.”
“No way. She seems so sweet. She’s that wild?”
“Come on, you think a luna gets where she is by
being sweet? I heard she keeps some stray on the
side, doesn’t even have a pack, all dirty. Guess
she’s got a type.”
“Damn. Then that kid in her belly…”
“Who knows whose it is. Guess we’ll find out when
it’s born and we see the fur color.”
I stood there with my thermos, my whole body
frozen, my ears ringing.
So.
Everything future me had done was all over the
pack.
Caleb was the strongest Alpha in the territory.
And because of me, his own packmates were
talking behind his back…
He must hate me, right?
Then.
A warm hand covered mine. Caleb had come out
at some point and taken the thermos from me.
“Been waiting long?”
I shook my head, trying not to cry. “No…”
Caleb looked at his beta assistant and said, in a quiet voice that still carried all of an Alpha’s
authority:
“This pack doesn’t need members who gossip about the Alpha’s family behind his back.”
The assistant nodded and headed toward the
corner.
He’d heard everything
He’d heard everything.
