I Traveled into the Future and Became the Alpha’s Luna Chapter 07
Even after I followed him into the Alpha’s private
room, I was still in shock.
“I’m sorry…”
“Don’t be.”
Caleb calmly opened the thermos and poured
himself a bowl of creamy mushroom soup.
“I’m not that fragile.”
He took a sip.
Then frowned a little at the taste.
“Elena, you know me.”
“I’ve never given a damn about pack gossip. I said I can believe you, and that means I’m gonna turn the page and leave the past behind.”
He put the bowl down.
He waved me over.
“Come here.”
I shuffled over to him. Ever since I’d arrived in the future and found out about me and Julian, I’d felt like I couldn’t look Caleb in the eye.
Same now.
Caleb sat down on the pelt–covered seat and
pulled me onto his lap.
We hadn’t been this close in a long time.
“Elena.”
“Yeah.”
He asked me out of nowhere. “Why wouldn’t you
kiss me?”
“That night.”
It took me a second to realize he meant that night when I’d tried to kiss him but chickened out
because I was so ashamed.
He held me close, and asked me carefully.
“Is it because you don’t like me anymore?”
“Or you don’t want me? Is it hard for you to be
close to me?”
He looked down, barely breathing.
Like a sad little wolf.
I told him the truth. “Because I don’t deserve to
kiss you.”
He froze.
He looked up at me.
“Because I’m dirty…”
He cut me off with his lips.
He kissed me deep, swallowing the rest of my
words.
“Elena.”
He sighed against my ear, his voice low as the
wind in the moonlight.
“You know me better than anyone.”
“You know how much I love you.”
“From now on, we only talk about the future. Let
the past stay in the past.”
“Okay?”
His voice was tight, gentle, almost begging.
Like he was the one who’d messed up.
Not me.
Today was the day the pack healer was supposed
to come.
Caleb got an emergency call and had to go to the
main territory.
He looked at his watch. “Wait for the healer, okay?
I’ll be back in half an hour, I promise. I’ll be here
before the exam.”
“Okay.”
Caleb rushed out.
I was walking around the estate, trying to calm my
nerves.
Suddenly.
Someone clamped a hand over my mouth and
nose!
Who?
Everything went fuzzy.
And then I blacked out.
