Lori trembled as she listened to their conversation outside the door.
She did not expect the love of her life, Bryce, to be having an affair with a housekeeper. The worst thing about it was that they were both plotting to usurp her fortune.
Lori tried her best to calm down, but Bryce noticed someone outside.
“Who… Who is it?”
Bryce and the housekeeper went to the door in disheveled clothes and saw Lori before she managed to run off.
He was shocked. “Lori, why didn’t you tell me you were back? Did… Did you hear everything we said?”
Lori sneered. She said, “How could you lie to me, Bryce Fallon? I was being true to you, but you turned out to be a disgusting person!”
An unhappy look flashed across Bryce’s eyes.
“Chad Lowry was true to you too, but you still had an affair with me behind his back. You cheated on him. If you want to talk about being disgusting, I don’t think I’m as disgusting as you are…”
It felt like a knife had stabbed Lori’s heart.
Her eyes turned red. She said coldly to Bryce, “Shut up!”
Bryce sneered. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Lori. “You’re the one who should shut up. Now that you know the truth, we have no choice but to bring forward the plan. You asked for this, Lori!”
There was a loud crack.
Before Lori knew what was happening, Bryce hit her behind the neck and knocked her out.
My spirit tried to grab Lori’s falling body, but she passed right through my hands and fell to the ground.
A familiar ringtone woke Lori up.
It was my phone’s ringtone.
The ringtone I used was a non-mainstream song. Very few people used the same ringtone as mine.
Lori’s eyes widened when she saw the black phone in Bryce’s hand. She asked in disbelief, “Why do you have Chad’s phone?”
Bryce played with the phone in his hand while taunting her, “I found it. It fell next to me during that accident we had on the bridge, and I took it.”
Lori muttered, “You were the one who was impersonating Chad…”
“That’s right.” A cold smile appeared on Bryce’s face. “I’ve been impersonating him to try and get more money from you.”
“I didn’t expect you to find out about it so quickly and only end up with five hundred thousand.”
Lori clenched her teeth. She was angry. Were she not tied up, she would have rushed over to Bryce and strangled
him.
Bryce looked gleeful. “You must hate me so much right now. Too bad for you that it’s too late.”
The housekeeper walked in with a sharp knife right after he spoke. She said to Bryce, “It’s all done, Bryce. Let’s get this done before the situation gets dangerous.”
Bryce replied, “All right.”
He took out an insurance policy and forced Lori to sign it.
After that, Bryce smiled sinisterly. “I’ll make sure to send you off quickly on account that you’ve been so great to me. I won’t let you suffer too much pain…”
He raised the knife. Just as he was about to strike, she shouted, “Wait! Where’s Chad? You know where he is, right?
