Three Months After My Death Chapter 06
Lori relented right away. She burst out laughing. “All right, all right. I’ll forgive you this time. Don’t ever lose your temper at me again, all right?”
“Yes, Ma’am!”
Bryce raised three fingers as he made the promise. This cheered Lori up tremendously.
I watched all of this.
How ironic.
The day would come when Lori would find out that I was the only person who died in the accident. Would she still be able to laugh then?
When Lori stopped laughing, Bryce suggested hiring a housekeeper.
It was to take care of Lori’s gastric situation and to clean up the house.
Lori quickly agreed.
Bryce soon found a young female housekeeper.
Lori rejected the housekeeper as she looked too dainty and did not seem like she knew how to do any housekeeping work. However, she eventually relented and agreed to hire the housekeeper when Bryce kept begging her while guaranteeing that the woman was a good worker.
The next day was a nice day.
Lori bumped into our neighbor while on her way to work, who looked at her and asked, “Where’s your husband? Doesn’t he take you to work all the time? Now that I think about it, I haven’t seen him for the past three months since I saw him driving off in a rush.”
That was when Lori realized I had not shown up for more than three months.
I would have come home to pack my clothes even if I was going away for a trip, but I never once came home during this period.
All of my things were at home, but I was gone.
The neighbor left.
Lori quickly took out her phone to call my best friend. “Hello, have you seen Chad recently?”
My friend sounded puzzled on the other end of the call. “I was about to ask you the same question. It’s been more than three months since I last saw him. Where did he go?”
Lori was unable to answer my friend. Her fingers clenched the phone tightly, betraying her anxiousness.
“Could Chad have gone home to visit his grandfather?” My friend reminded her.
That was when Lori remembered that I still had a grandfather in my hometown, Hallerton.
My parents had passed away from illnesses not long after Lori and I got married. Besides Lori, my grandfather in Hallerton was the only family I had left in this world.
Lori bought a train ticket back to Hallerton, but when she arrived in Hallerton, she met my elderly grandfather but
could not find me after searching around.
st as Lori returned home with fruitless results, the police called her.
They had tracked my number to a precise location. The address they shared was the home Lori and I shared.
“That’s impossible! How can that be the correct address?” Lori was in disbelief.
She was not the only one. I did not believe it either.
However, I quickly calmed down.
If someone had stolen my number and the address the police tracked it to belonged to our home, the only one who could have done this was Bryce.
Lori looked extremely upset.
Even though she had no idea who was behind this, she did not want to sound any alarms.
She decided to go home without informing Bryce about anything.
When Lori arrived at the door, she heard moaning coming from the house.
“You’re a slutty little thing, aren’t you? You’re lucky that I begged Lori to hire you as a housekeeper. Otherwise, who knows when we’ll be able to see each other.”
“Bryce, when can we go public with our relationship?”
“Be good. Just be patient. We’ll wait until we cheat Lori out of every cent she has. After that, I’ll take out a policy on her and arrange for her accidental death. We can go public after that.”
