ri was taken aback. She could hardly believe that her beloved Bryce could be so annoyed with her.
However, she was in so much pain that she forced herself to get to the hospital.
She waited for her turn at the hospital for the doctor and her medication while in great pain.
After she was done, she sat helplessly on the chair in the hospital’s corridor.
Something must have crossed her mind because she suddenly took out her phone and typed out a message.
“I’d like to reconsider our divorce.”
“Let’s meet, Chad. We need to talk.”
She hesitated after typing out the message. She did not send it.
Was she regretting this?
Unfortunately, everything was too late because I was dead.
Three days later, Lori woke up early that morning for our divorce.
She waited for me outside the civil office as agreed.
However, she waited until the sky turned dark, but I never showed up.
She held back her annoyance when she called me. The call hung up after two seconds.
After that, she tried video calling me, but the call also hung up after two seconds.
As such, she had no choice but to continue messaging me.
She wrote, “Didn’t we agree to meet outside the civil office, Chad? Why aren’t you here yet?”
There was a reply to her message, “I said I wanted three million, but you only gave me five hundred thousand. Do you think that’s enough to convince me? I won’t divorce you until I get three million.”
Whoever it was must really want the money that the person forgot to impersonate me.
It was my habit to end my sentences with an ellipsis.
However, whoever was messaging Lori had forgotten about it.
Lori finally realized something was wrong.
She typed in three question marks before asking, “Are you really Chad? Why does it feel like you’re not him?”
Lori sent the message, but there was no reply.
She looked flustered and started mumbling, “This isn’t possible. Chad is fine. Someone must have used his number…”
That night, she went to the police station to make a report. She told the police that someone stole my number and scammed her for five hundred thousand.
The police immediately locked down on my number.
After all this was done, Lori returned home.
Bryce quickly went up to her to find out where she had been.
Dari told him everything about what happened. Bryce comforted Lori, “It’s fine. You’ll get the five hundred thousand back, but are you sure that Chad’s number was stolen? He could be putting up an act with an accomplice
Her eyes narrowed as she replied, “Even though I’ve never really gotten to know him after being married for so many years, I trust his character. He would never cheat me of my money by putting up an act with someone else…”
“All right.” Bryce rubbed his nose guiltily.
I had studied psychology for a while before.
When someone was feeling guilty or telling a lie, they would unintentionally rub their noses.
Something told me that Bryce was hiding a secret.
“By the way,” Bryce seemed to remember something as he changed the topic. “I shouldn’t have been annoyed with you when you were suffering from gastric. I was just in a bad mood because I was worried about Chad refusing to get a divorce, and I spoke too harshly.”
