The Game Character I Raised Was a Powerful Dynasty Heir Chapter 04
When I heard the price, I was instantly deflated.
Never mind, I wasn’t going to get upset over something like this with rich people.
The ring eventually ended up in William’s possession.
I felt a little disappointed, but I didn’t let it bother me too much.
Anyway, there would be plenty of opportunities in the future, and someday I would be able to afford something better.
After the event ended, I was about to leave when my mother grabbed me from behind.
“Come here.”
She took me to a secluded corner.
Only then did I notice a middle-aged man in his forties standing nearby. He was a bit overweight, with a greasy face, and his smile made me feel uneasy.
But my mother nudged me, urging me to stand next to him, and then introduced us with a smile. “This is Mr. Walker. He runs a mining business up north. He recently lost his wife, and has taken quite a liking to you.”
I froze for a moment, then it dawned on me. “Mom, what do you mean?”
I didn’t notice when my father had walked over, but he spoke up right away. “Our family is short on cash right now, and Mr. Walker is willing to lend us some money to tide us over—on the condition that you marry him.”
I let out a cold laugh. “Are you trying to sell me?”
“What are you talking about? That sounds so harsh!” My mother’s expression changed, and she lowered her voice to threaten me. “If you don’t agree to this marriage, don’t expect to get a single penny from us in the future, and we won’t consider you our daughter anymore.”
So what? When I thought about all the cashback quests I hadn’t completed in the game yet, I realized I could still make enough to live comfortably.
I turned around and walked away, heading back to the apartment I was renting.
I pulled out my phone and opened the game. Seeing my character sitting on the couch waiting for me on the screen made me feel a little better.
As I went through the materials, I spoke to the screen. “Lil’ beggar, I’ve had such a rough day. Can you believe it? My own mother wants to sell me to some fat, old guy for money.”
The character on the screen tilted his head, a look of concern on his face.
“I must have been blind to ever think I could please those people. Thank goodness I have you now.”
I sighed, and my tone softened. “As long as you’re here, I’m not afraid of anything.”
No sooner had I finished speaking than a pop-up window suddenly appeared on the game screen.
[Player’s mood detected as low. Would you like to redeem a comfort gift?]
I was taken aback. Was there a new feature like that?
Without thinking, I clicked “Agree.”
The next moment, a flash of light shot out from the screen. Before I could even react, I felt a heavy weight in the palm of my hand—something had appeared there.
I looked down, and my heart skipped a beat.
It was a ring.
An oval-cut sapphire set in a platinum ring, radiating a dazzling glow.
It was exactly the same as the one William had bought at the auction.
