The Game Character I Raised Was a Powerful Dynasty Heir Chapter 03

After the engagement was called off, my situation at home became even more difficult.

My parents made it clear, both directly and indirectly, that they were ashamed of me, saying I had ruined a perfectly good marriage and brought disgrace upon the Lynn family.

Chloe took every opportunity to be sarcastic, constantly showing off her photos with William in front of me and going on about how good he was to her.

I didn’t bother with her because I was too busy counting money.

There were new quests to complete in the game almost every day, and the little character kept sending me money more and more often.

I completed my tasks on time, gathered materials, and leveled up my character’s skills—and my bank balance shot up like a rocket.

In just two weeks, my savings surpassed six figures.

I curled up under the covers, secretly opened my banking app, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud as I looked at that long string of numbers.

Over a hundred thousand dollars.

Even though I was the real heiress, my parents had never been willing to give me a single extra penny.

I had made up my mind: once I saved a little more, I was going to move to a different city.

But my parents suddenly called me home to take me to a charity auction.

I didn’t really want to go at first, but when I heard there would be quite a few jewelry pieces on display at the event, I started to get interested.

Now that I had some money, I naturally wanted to treat myself to something nice.

The event was packed with people and attended by a host of celebrities.

I was wandering around the exhibition hall alone with a glass of champagne in my hand when my eye was immediately caught by a ring.

It was an oval-cut Kashmir sapphire, set in a platinum ring, shimmering with radiant brilliance.

Even through the glass display case, I could sense its captivating beauty.

Once the auction began, I raised my paddle without hesitation to bid.

“Three hundred thousand.”

“Four hundred thousand.”

I didn’t expect someone across the way to be holding up a sign too. When I turned to look, I nearly spit out my champagne.

William sat in the VIP section, holding up his bid card with an impassive expression.

I really did like that gem, so after giving it some thought, I gritted my teeth and decided to go for it. “Five hundred thousand.”

To my surprise, he didn’t even bat an eye; he just raised the price again. “Eight hundred thousand.”

All eyes in the room were on us, and whispers rose and fell.

“Geez. That clueless Lynn family—they can’t possibly think that just by trying to outbid Mr. Shaw for something, they’ll win his favor, can they?”

“Haven’t you heard? Mr. Shaw has already broken off the engagement with her. I think she’s just trying to save face!”

I frowned as I heard these words, and just to prove a point, I raised my bid again. “One million.”

William finally turned his head and glanced at me, but the very next second, he actually snorted derisively at me.

“Five million.”
