The Game Character I Raised Was a Powerful Dynasty Heir Chapter 02

But then again, my in-game character had a positive, enthusiastic, and cheerful personality.

It was probably just a coincidence that they looked alike.

I shook my head to myself and dismissed that unrealistic notion from my mind.

It wasn’t until I had signed the marriage annulment agreement in a daze that Chloe walked in carrying a tea tray.

She immediately noticed me staring blankly at William’s retreating figure and slammed her teacup down on the table with a thud.

“Haven’t you given up yet? William is here to call off the engagement, not to take you away. Do you really think someone like you could climb the social ladder?”

She looked me up and down, her eyes full of disdain. “There’s no way William would ever go for a hick like you.”

I couldn’t be bothered to deal with her.

Now that it was clear William had nothing to do with my character in the game, I had completely lost interest in this whole engagement-cancellation.

Who cared what she said? I didn’t really care about this marriage anyway.

I pulled out my phone and opened the game right in front of everyone.

As soon as the game’s startup sound played, Chloe’s chest began to rise and fall even more rapidly; she was clearly upset by my indifference.

She opened her mouth to say something, but my mother stopped her with a single glance.

William hadn’t left yet; if the two daughters really started fighting, it would bring shame upon the Lynn family.

I pretended not to notice and focused on waiting for the game to load.

Strangely enough, William’s gaze drifted casually over my phone screen and lingered there for a moment.

The game finished loading, but I noticed that the scene had changed.

My character was no longer in my carefully decorated little apartment but had appeared in a strange place.

It was a lavishly decorated hall, where the dark wooden furniture exuded an understated elegance.

It looked familiar to me, but I didn’t think much of it.

Out of habit, I poked his cheek on the screen with my finger, just as I usually did when we interacted.

Just as my finger tapped the screen, a muffled groan came from nearby.

I looked up suddenly and saw William raise his hand to touch his face, his brow slightly furrowed.

I stared at him suspiciously.

But the next moment, he had already resumed his impassive expression, as if nothing had happened.

“I’ve already prepared the compensation for the Lynn family regarding the broken engagement. I’ve also had my lawyer draft the gift agreement. All Mr. Lynn needs to do is sign it.”

My father quickly took the documents and nodded and bowed in agreement.

The engagement was finally called off.

As William and his group were leaving, my parents didn’t give me a single friendly look the entire time.

My mother shot me a withering look, as if blaming me for being a failure who couldn’t even keep a person by my side.

I shrugged indifferently.

Anyway, I still had my games.
