The Don Who Called Me Dirty, Begged Me Back Later Chapter 06
“I checked the airline records. Miss Elena flew to
Sterling Heights last night.”
Salvatore finally frowned.
He looked at the empty room. The unease he had
been suppressing surged up, wild and
uncontrollable.
‘Find her.‘ His voice was ice–cold through clenched teeth. ‘Find out where she is in Sterling Heights.
And who she is with.”
He hung up. His fingers were trembling.
DeLuca Holdings. Top–floor conference room. The
air was freezing.
Salvatore sat at the head of the table, staring at
the disastrous project reports in his hand. His face was dark as a storm. In three days, his
empire had fallen apart.
The eastern district projects ground to a halt. Three core suppliers terminated their contracts. The finance department found discrepancies in
the overseas accounts.
Only then did Salvatore realize what he had been blind to for three years.
Elena had not just been his Donna. She was the foundation of DeLuca Holdings. She had handled every impossible negotiation. Cleaned up every dirty mess. And he had taken it all for granted.
“Mr. DeLuca, Mr. Saver still will not see us.” The project manager wiped his sweat as he reported.
Salvatore slammed the report on the table. “Useless! Is DeLuca nothing without Elena Rossi?”
The conference room fell silent. No one dared to
provoke him.
The door opened. Bianca walked in carefully, holding an elegant thermos. “Sal, do not be angry. I made you some broth. Have a little.”
She walked up to Salvatore and reached out to rub his temples.
Salvatore subconsciously turned his head away.
“Who told you to come to the office?” His voice
carried a coldness he had not noticed himself.
Bianca’s hand froze in midair. Her eyes reddened
instantly. “I saw you were in a bad mood these past few days. I wanted to check on you.”
“Leave the soup. Get out.”
Salvatore did not look up. He opened another file.
Bianca bit her lip, set down the thermos
resentfully, and ran out. At the door, she ran intol
Mrs. DeLuca.
Mrs. DeLuca grabbed Bianca’s hand and patted it sympathetically. Then she turned to Salvatore. “Why are you taking your anger out on Bianca? She is carrying the heir of the DeLuca family!”
Salvatore rubbed his temples, trying to suppress
his irritation. “Ma, you do not understand the
business. Do not make things harder.”
“What do I not understand?” Mrs. DeLuca snorted.
“It is that bitch Elena. She ran away to play hard to
get. She wants you to beg her to come back.”
“Listen to me. Ignore her. Once she is hungry and
broke out there, she will come crawling back on
her own.”
Salvatore did not answer.
He stared out the window at the bustling streets
of Rivermont. But the panic in his chest was
growing heavier.
Would she really come back?
The consigliere knocked and entered, holding a thick file. His expression was even graver than before. “Don, a subpoena from the court.”
Salvatore’s head snapped up.
The consigliere placed the file on the table. His
voice was strained. “Miss Elena has retained Sterling Heights‘ top legal team. She has officially filed for divorce.”
“And…” The consigliere hesitated. “There is more.”
“Say it!” Salvatore’s voice was sharp.
“She is requesting the return of all personal capital investments and intellectual property
contributions she made to DeLuca Holdings.
during the marriage. The settlement would… impair the company’s solvency.”
