Resign with Grace, Return with Fire Chapter 14
To convince the public, Sandra even attached a video at the end of her post.
When I opened it, I froze. The video was surveillance footage from the day I went to Sandra’s house.
The audio had been muted and the footage edited, so no one could tell what really happened. All they saw was me entering Sandra’s bedroom and then leaving with a panicked expression. Anyone watching would assume that I was guilty of stealing company secrets.
Memories flashed through my mind as I slowly pieced together the truth.
It was no wonder Sandra had suddenly tricked me into coming to her place that day. I was confused at first. She was always rational, not the kind to lose control over love.
She would never ask me to go to her house out of longing for me, especially when her company was in crisis, and she had so much on her plate.
So it was all a setup to frame me!
As soon as Sandra’s post went live, it stirred a storm online. The comments were filled with outrage, with netizens sympathizing with Sandra and viciously attacking me.
“He’s supposed to be her boyfriend? Poor lady for being betrayed like this.”
“What a terrible guy. He bullied the intern first, got called out, and then quit in a fit of spite. Later, he exploited the intern’s trust to steal company secrets and caused a crisis just to get revenge.”
“Such a traitor deserves to be banned industry-wide!”
“Sue him! Make him pay and rot in jail!”
They practically cursed my entire lineage.
I had hoped that Sandra and I could part on good terms, but I never expected her to do this. She had become a stranger I hardly recognized.
She wanted to ruin my career completely.
Just then, Sandra called me. “Fred, did you see the trending topic? That’s just a little lesson for you. You were too spoiled with me protecting you. You never faced any real hardships, so you got cocky and arrogant.
“But I’m calling to give you one chance to make things right. As long as you get back together with me and come back to work, I’ll take down the post and clear your name. Otherwise, I have plenty of ways to make you learn your lesson.”
I refused without hesitation. “Sandra, I think I’ve made myself very clear. Don’t call me again. No matter how many times you call, my answer won’t change. I refuse to get back together.”
With that, I hung up.
The next day, Sandra took me to court.
After hearing about what happened, the CEO of Skyborne Group wanted to step in to help me, but I politely
declined.
“Thank you for your concern, but I can handle this myself.”
In the courtroom, Lester showed up hand in hand with Sandra.
As they passed by, Lester leaned close and whispered in my ear, “You think you can take me on? You’re not even in my league! Did you really think Sandra and I were over? We’re tighter than ever.
“Framing you was actually my idea to deflect the blame and save the company from going under. Get ready to be ruined and bankrupt.”
It turned out that Lester and Sandra never fell out. It was all a scheme to frame me and make me take the fall.
I cast a cold, disappointed glance at Sandra.
