Resign with Grace, Return with Fire Chapter 13

Resign with Grace, Return with Fire Chapter 13

Lester tried several times to win Sandra’s favor again, but she was cold and indifferent toward him.

Before long, Wendell Group found itself entangled in lawsuits again. Every project Lester had recently taken over ended in disaster.

Clients stormed the company demanding contract cancellations and tenfold compensation.

The whole industry buzzed with gossip, and many near-deals collapsed.

Shareholders came to demand accountability. Leading the charge was Lester’s father, David Hale. He publicly scolded Sandra in front of all employees for ten full minutes while pointing at her like a criminal.

Then, he stormed into the shareholders’ conference room for a formal reprimand.

Throughout all this, Sandra never interrupted to explain that it was Lester who had caused the mess.

Seeing David, Lester didn’t dare utter a single word, showing zero responsibility.

For someone as proud as Sandra, this was the first time she’d ever looked so powerless. But the Lester she had so fiercely defended behaved like a coward.

Eventually, some colleagues couldn’t stand it anymore and clarified the whole mess. That finally ended the

chaos.

With the losses spiraling out of control, David and several shareholders withdrew their investments, leaving Sandra to clean up the mess.

These details came from a former colleague who messaged me privately.

I was a little saddened, but since it was all over between us, it didn’t matter anymore.

What surprised me was that, in the following days, Sandra relentlessly pursued me. She cooked three meals a day for me and waited at the entrance to my workplace with flowers and surprises.

She looked regretful as she said, “Fred, I’m sorry. I misjudged Lester. I was wrong. Can we get back together? I really can’t do this without you! Oh, and here’s the salary I kept for you all these years. You can have it back. Please just come back!”

I accepted the money but refused her apology. “Sandra, don’t waste your efforts. We’re done. Instead of wasting time on me, why don’t you think about how to fix the company’s mess?”

After the ninth rejection, Sandra left, clutching her flowers and looking dejected.

The next day, she messaged me. “Fred, I accidentally splashed hot oil on myself! Can you come take me to the hospital?”

I replied, “You should ask Lester for that.”

She responded with a voice message instantly. Her voice broke with tears. “Fred, Lester and I have fallen out. You’re the only one I can ask for help. You wouldn’t just leave me to suffer, would you?”

After some hesitation, I decided to go.

When I arrived, I found that she only had a blister from a minor burn. She’d lied to me.

But since I was there, I got the first aid kit and bandaged her.

As I turned to leave, Sandra wrapped her arms around my waist and said tenderly, “Fred, I knew that you still cared about me.”

I pushed her away coldly. “Don’t flatter yourself. My help isn’t free. 200 bucks. Would you like to pay via cash or transfer?”

She gritted her teeth and paid me cash, but she didn’t give up. She grabbed me again and asked, “Fred, are you really this heartless? Can’t you even give me one chance?”

I pulled away and walked off.

Before leaving, I noticed a cold gleam flash through Sandra’s eyes.

As expected, a few days later, she dragged me onto the trending list. She twisted the truth wildly in her post, dumping dirt on me.

She claimed that I was a traitor and that after she fired me, I had taken revenge by stealing company secrets and causing massive losses.
