Listening to My Unborn Baby, I Became the Elite Darling Chapter 07
Vivian clearly hadn’t expected Eleanor to stay so calm and rational.
Immediately, panic flashed across her face.
“I… well…” she stammered. “Someone left it at my door. I thought maybe the private investigator got the results early, so I didn’t think too much about it and hurried over to tell you all.’
Then she instantly changed tactics and ran to Julian’s side.
“I did all this for you!” she cried. “Say something! I would never hurt you. Clara’s the one who’s been using you this whole time!”
Julian glanced at me as tears filled my eyes, then lowered his head and carefully examined the
report again.
A few moments later, his expression hardened.
“The anti-counterfeit seal is wrong,” he said calmly. “The font quality is blurry, and there’s no registration code on the document. This report is fake.”
Vivian’s face twitched in shock.
Julian exchanged a serious look with Eleanor before calling over his assistant and quietly giving
instructions.
A few minutes later, the assistant returned.
“Mr. Sterling, the testing center confirmed that the blood samples are still being processed. The official results won’t be available until noon the day after tomorrow.”
Eleanor shot Vivian a cold glare.
“In that case, we’ll go to the lab ourselves and wait for the results in person,” she said. “That way no one can frame Clara again.”
Vivian’s face instantly turned red with humiliation.
Meanwhile, my baby was practically bouncing with excitement.
[No wonder Great Grandpa and Dad didn’t say anything earlier. They already knew something was wrong!]
[Serves that evil first love right. She tried to outsmart everyone and ended up humiliating herself!)
Even so, the knot in my chest still refused to loosen.
Vivian would never let this go so easily.
And even if the Sterling family exposed her fake report on the spot, it didn’t change the fact that she was the beloved daughter of the Ashford family, one of the Sterlings’ closest allies.
She was Julian’s childhood sweetheart.
A billionaire heiress.
And me?
I was nobody.
Even if I’d been falsely accused, all I could do was swallow my tears and quietly step aside.
Eleanor noticed how shaken I looked and immediately grabbed my hand.
“What was supposed to be a nice dinner got completely ruined,” she sighed. “Clara, you’re sleeping with me tonight. Later I’ll call in two Michelin-star chefs to cook for you personally.”
The warmth in her tone toward me contrasted sharply with the irritation on her face when she
looked at Vivian.
Any favorable impression she’d once had of her was completely gone.
Terrified that I might turn Eleanor against her completely, Vivian shamelessly moved closer.
“Mrs. Sterling, I really did this for Julian’s sake,” she insisted. “The second I saw the report, I rushed over here. I didn’t know it was fake.”
Then suddenly, she pointed directly at me.
“What if Clara Miller set me up on purpose? Maybe she forged the fake report herself and tricked me into bringing it here!”
Vivian crossed her arms triumphantly.
“That way she becomes the victim all over again and everyone pities her. Mrs. Sterling, you’re too smart to fall for her manipulation, right?”
For the first time since I’d met her, I saw genuine anger darken Eleanor’s face.
But before she could explode, Julian stepped protectively in front of me.
“Vivian Ashford,” he snapped furiously, “have you caused enough trouble yet?”
