Listening to My Unborn Baby, I Became the Elite Darling Chapter 05
Even though panic surged through me, I did not give Vivian the chance to attack first.
Instead, I immediately covered my stomach and stumbled backward with a terrified expression.
“If you’re angry, take it out on me,” I pleaded shakily. “Please don’t hurt Mr. Sterling’s child!”
The moment Vivian heard that, her temper exploded..
She slapped me hard across the face and threw a stack of photographs at me.
“Quit pretending, you bitch. I already investigated every dirty trick you pulled.”
According to the baby’s memories, Vivian had always acted sweet and innocent in public. She only bullied me when nobody else was around.
But now that she saw I was about to secure my position beside Julian, she could not keep up the act
anymore.
Her true colors finally came out.
I pretended I could barely breathe and dropped weakly to my knees.
“I don’t know what I did to upset you,” I whispered pitifully. “If hitting me makes you feel better, then go ahead.”
Vivian raised her hand high again.
I bit my lip and trembled.
But before her slap could land, Julian’s furious voice rang out behind us.
“Vivian! What the hell are you doing?”
Julian shoved Vivian away without hesitation and immediately pulled me protectively behind him.
Vivian nearly exploded with rage. “You’re yelling at me over this cheap little whore?”
Julian ignored her completely.
Instead, he gently touched the red mark on my face. “You were frightened.”
The second Vivian realized Julian was no longer blindly taking her side, panic and anger flashed across her face.
“Julian, I came back because I was worried about you!” she snapped. “The whole drugging incident
was suspicious, so I hired the best private investigators money could buy.”
She pointed at me viciously.
“I’m convinced Clara Miller orchestrated the entire thing. She wanted to trap you with a baby and force her way into the Sterling family!”
My heart dropped.
Was I really destined to wear this accusation no matter what I did?
I clenched the hem of my dress so tightly my fingers shook with sweat.
But unexpectedly, Julian narrowed his eyes coldly and kicked the scattered photographs aside.
“I already investigated everything,” he said icily. “My business rivals were responsible. I fed those people to the sharks a long time ago.”
Vivian froze.
Then Julian’s voice turned even colder.
“Don’t tell me you came all the way back here just to slander Clara.”
His tone clearly stunned her.
I had just started relaxing when Vivian suddenly pulled out another stack of photos.
“Even if that’s true, it doesn’t prove she’s innocent!” Vivian argued desperately. “Look at her past. She slept around with all kinds of men. For all we know, the baby she’s carrying isn’t even yours!”
Julian lowered his gaze toward the photographs.
The images showed me kissing several different men.
His expression darkened instantly.
My scalp prickled with panic.
“I don’t know any of those men,” I said tearfully. “The photos are fake. I’ve never even had a boyfriend before.”
Vivian immediately seized the opportunity and wrapped herself around Julian’s arm possessively.
“As if anyone would believe that,” she sneered. “Nobody gets pregnant from a one-night stand that easily. If you really want to prove your innocence, then come with me for a paternity test.”
Julian’s jaw tightened, but he did not respond immediately.
I looked up at him stubbornly through tear-filled eyes.
“Fine,” I said softly. “The baby’s already six months along, so we can do an amniocentesis for the
test.”
Then I lowered my gaze bitterly.
“But once the results prove the baby belongs to Mr. Sterling, I’ll still leave the Sterling family. I
won’t interfere with you and Miss Ashford ever again.”
I forced a faint smile toward Vivian.
“Please don’t worry, Miss Ashford. I’ve never dreamed of taking something that wasn’t mine.”
My voice was composed and obedient, but my trembling tears made me look heartbreakingly
vulnerable.
Julian frowned slightly before turning toward Vivian.
“And if the child is mine,” he said coldly, “can you afford the consequences of falsely accusing
her?”
