Imprisoned, Poisoned, She Took His Throne Chapter 02

Imprisoned, Poisoned, She Took His Throne Chapter 02

The phone rang, and Luca’s voice was as gentle as ever.

“Elena, what’s wrong? The butler said you suddenly decided to come back. Did you get sick at the beach? Or did you miss me?”

I fought back the nausea and said stiffly, “I want to go back.”

“I’m afraid that if you come back and see this familiar place, it will bring back those painful memories. Darling, that wouldn’t be good for your mental health.”

“But I still think the ocean on Long Island is more beautiful, and besides, you’d be there with me.”

He paused for a couple of seconds, then smiled. “All right, I’ll have someone pick you up.”

The helicopter soon landed on the beach.

The butler poked his head out: “Donna, please.”

Back at the main house on Long Island, Luca stood at the door, dressed in a suit and tie, smiling and spreading his arms wide.

“Elena, are you tired?”

He took my hand and frowned. “Why is it so cold? Victor, bring me my coat.”

He put on his coat and kissed me on the forehead.

“Now that you’re back, don’t overthink it. As for children… there will be more in the future.”

I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms around his waist.

“Luca, don’t send me away. I’m feeling much better now, and I won’t try to kill myself again.”

He stiffened slightly, then smiled and patted me on the back.

“Okay, you can stay anywhere you want.”

Before bed, he brought me a glass of warm milk.

I looked at him.

Ever since my miscarriage, I’ve been having trouble sleeping, and every night he brings me a cup of warm milk himself.

After I went to Newport, he kept telling the housekeeper to make sure I drank my milk every night.

He said sleeping pills aren’t good for me, and that milk would help me sleep well.

However, when I think about it carefully, ever since I started drinking milk, my insomnia has actually gotten worse, and my depression and anxiety have become increasingly severe.

The mind-control drug he mentioned must have been put in the milk.

Seeing me staring at the milk, Luca asked curiously, “Elena, why aren’t you drinking it?”

“I don’t want to.”

He sighed and said gently, “The doctor said you’re malnourished; this will make you feel better.”

I looked him straight in the eyes: “Do I really have to drink it?”

“If you don’t want to drink it, don’t force yourself—it’s just milk.”

He smiled and patted me on the shoulder.

I realized that I lived under Luca’s control, surrounded by members of the Vitale family.

Even if you manage to avoid drinking milk today, you might not be able to avoid other food drugged tomorrow.

I took the milk and drank it all in one go.

Luca smiled contentedly. “I’m going to the study to take care of some things. I’ll come back to keep you company later.”

After he left, I rushed to the bathroom and forced myself to vomit, bringing up all the milk.

Sure enough, by midnight, I was lying in bed, sweating profusely and tossing and turning in agony due to withdrawal symptoms.

Luca called the family doctor for me.

In a daze, I heard the doctor seemed to ask Luca, “Did she take my medicine today?”

Luca replied, “I saw her finish the milk with my own eyes.”

My heart immediately sank.

“Then it’s probably not withdrawal; it might be poisoning caused by an overdose…”

Shortly after the doctor left, I quietly opened my eyes to see how Luca would react.

Just then, the door to the master bedroom suddenly swung open, and Giulia walked in wearing sexy lingerie.

Luca panicked; he glanced back at me.

I closed my eyes immediately.

He quickly ushered Giulia out the door and whispered, “Why did you come now?”
