I Called Dibs on Mr. Jackpot Chapter 05

With that $10 million sitting in my account, my confidence shot through the rook

The second I pushed open the lounge doors, it didn’t feel like I was walking onto a red carpet.

It felt like I was stepping onto a path lined with cash.

Ezra kept our fingers locked together like he wanted the whole room to know I was fris.

Champagne glasses still clinked around the ballroom, but the second we stepped in, the room went dead quiet for a few seconds.

Grace stood nearby with a champagne flute, talking fast to her friends. Probably telling them how I got kicked out.

Then she saw us.

Her smile froze.

“Well, look who finally decided to show up.” Grace walked over, eyes dropping to the wine stain on my dress. “Mia, your dress is stained like that? Didn’t Lisa make you pay for it? If you can’t afford it, we’re classmates. I can lend-”

She cut herself off.

Her eyes locked on the hand Ezra was holding.

The silver ring caught the chandelier light. Simple. Quiet. Impossible to miss.

(Oh, here we go. Countdown to Grace getting wrecked.]

[She looks like she swallowed glass. I’m dead.]

[Ezra: boyfriend mode unlocked.]

Ezra stopped and looked at Grace like she was nothing but a desperate attention addict.

“Pay for it?” He gave a quiet laugh, lifted my hand, and kissed it slowly. “So what if my fiancée stained a dress? One dress? Ten dresses? If she burned my sister’s whole closet down, Lisa would still ask if she had a good time.”

The room lost it.

Grace stumbled back, all the color draining from her face. “F-Fiancée? That’s impossible. Wasn’t this whole thing just a dare…?”

“A dare?”

Lisa appeared out of nowhere, swirling her wine. “Grace, are you actually this clueless, or do you just enjoy embarrassing yourself? My brother repainted his favorite car pink because Mia liked the color. Tonight was obviously his excuse to confess in public. You’re literally the only person dumb enough to think otherwise.”

The laughter in the room instantly turned on her.

The people waiting to watch me embarrass myself were suddenly staring at me with jealous smiles plastered on their faces.

Grace looked completely wrecked, like someone had drained every bit of strength out of her. The last piece of her pride snapped.

Her lips shook. Then, unable to handle the stares and whispers anymore, she covered her face and ran out crying.

[YES. That was insanely satisfying.]

[This is what peak teamwork looks like.]

[Grace is DONE. Also, the hot guy walking past just liked this.]

I watched Grace’s pathetic exit without much reaction.

Honestly, I was too busy thinking about how to spend that ten million dollars.

I tugged lightly on Ezra’s sleeve and lowered my voice. “Um… Grace is gone now. Can we talk about fixing up Evervale Home? Since Grandpa gave me the money, I want to use it for something that actually matters.”

Ezra looked at me and sighed.

Then he reached out and flicked my nose. “I knew you were a heartless little thing. Relax.”

He pulled out his phone and showed me a photo. “The second you said yes to being my girlfriend, the construction crew was already at Evervale Home.”
