I Called Dibs on Mr. Jackpot Chapter 06
I looked closer at the photo.
The old building that used to leak-every time it rained was already fenced off. Excavators were working nonstop around it.
A huge banner hung nearby:
“Congratulations to Everton Corp for donating a new academic building to Evervale Home-Groundbreaking Ceremony.”
I blinked. “That was fast.”
Ezra lifted a brow, full of rich-boy energy. “My family doesn’t just do efficiency. We do speed. And not just the building.” He tapped the screen lightly. “I also set up a scholarship fund. From now on, any kid from Evervale Home who gets into college gets full tuition covered.”
My eyes instantly burned red.
And this time, it had nothing to do with the money.
I was genuinely moved.
I looked at the arrogant guy in front of me and suddenly felt like he shone brighter than that ten million dollars.
[I’m crying. He’s literally the perfect man.]
(Rich, hot, and thoughtful? Mia, what kind of past-life karma is this?]
[I ship them so hard. Somebody drag these two to city hall already.]
After the gala, Ezra drove me back to campus.
The car stopped in front of my dorm, just like last night.
But this time felt different.
Last night, I was playing along for the money.
Tonight… I genuinely didn’t want to let go.
“We’re here.” Ezra shut off the engine and looked at me, his stupidly pretty eyes catching the light. “Eight tomorrow morning. I’ll be downstairs.”
“For what?” I asked, even though I already knew.
“The studio.” He smiled and tapped his cheek. “My exclusive artist should probably go sign all those paintings, right?”
Then he leaned closer, our breaths mixing.
“And from now on, you only paint me. Got it?”
I nodded, cheeks burning. “Got it, you possessive psycho.”
Just as I reached for the door, the comments flooded in one last time.
[CONGRATS! Rich-family romance route cleared with a perfect score!]
[Male lead affection level: MAX.]
[Money level: MAX.]
[Happiness level: ERROR. TOO HIGH.]
Main mission complete. Comments system going offline. Wishing you and Mr. Jackpot a lifetime of happiness!]
[Happy ending unlocked.
The red comments slowly faded from my sight.
And weirdly enough, I almost didn’t want them to go.
Thank you, my little matchmakers.
Without those comments, I’d probably still be stressing over rent money every month. I never would’ve dared reach for someone as out of my league as Ezra.
“What are you zoning out about?”
Ezra waved a hand in front of my face.
I snapped back and looked at him, real and warm right in front of me.
No more comment prompts. No more future spoilers.
But who cared?
My Mr. Jackpot was already here.
I suddenly leaned over, threw my arms around his neck, and kissed his cheek loud enough to echo. “Ezra!”
“Hm?” He looked caught off guard for a second, then pulled me onto his lap by the waist.
I smiled against his ear, sweet and sneaky. “Tomorrow morning, I want those soufflé pancakes with the insane line. And from now on, your money belongs to me, and you-”
Ezra laughed softly and kissed me, cutting off the rest of my sentence.
“I’m yours too. Forever.”
The moonlight that night was beautiful.
And my life with the Evertons was just getting started.
