Hidden Husband: Replaced by Her First Love Chapter 07
“There’s no need for us to meet before the hearing,” I said. I didn’t want to waste time talking to Faith.
Seeing how cold I was, she completely lost her composure. “That’s not it. I was just trying to scare you into coming home.
“I didn’t mean any of it. All of it was Henry’s idea. I messed up. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Faith kept pleading with me, no longer as proud and domineering as before.
She then forced out a few tears, putting on her best wounded expression. “Henry and I aren’t what you think. He’s only there to support my career.
“You’re my husband. You’re the only one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Darling, can you give me another chance? Please? I promise I won’t ever let you suffer again!” By then, she had already started groveling at my feet.
I stepped away to avoid Faith, pretending as if I hadn’t seen her.
There was no trace of her old arrogance. She was slumped on the ground, guilt and desperation written all over her face.
Faith seemed genuinely remorseful. Or maybe she was only acting this way after weighing the pros and cons of the
situation.
I remained unmoved. “No matter what you do, it’s none of my business. It’s already over between us.”
I tried to shake her off, but she clung to me as if her life depended on it. “I know you don’t like Henry, so I’ve already had his baby aborted. My parents now know you’re my real husband. Let’s get back together, okay? I’m begging you.”
Faith was acting as if I were the one who’d abandoned her. She clung to my legs, sobbing and begging. Anyone who didn’t know the truth would have taken pity on her.
“You attacked me online and leaked my company’s confidential information. This isn’t over yet. I don’t care what you did to get your hands on my work details, but what you did was illegal. Just you wait.”
Before Faith could even say a word, someone rushed toward me and kicked me.
“Henry!” Faith shrieked.
Henry stood in front of me. The strong smell of cigarette on him made me scowl.
“How dare you show up here?” Henry spat. “Do you know people have been mocking me? You’re asking for it!”
He wanted to attack me again, but the courthouse security intervened and pulled us apart.
“What are you trying to do? You’re at the courthouse. You want to get arrested?”
That was enough to make Henry immediately back off. He helped Faith up while glaring at me. “This bastard slandered me online and spread lies about me. He deserved a beating, don’t you think?”
I wiped blood away from the corner of my mouth and decided not to put up with this anymore.
“Are you actually afraid others will call you out for the disgusting things you’ve done? How ridiculous.”
But Faith acted like she was the victim and began frantically shaking her head. “No. That’s not true. He made me do it!”
Seeing her push him away, Henry lost his temper. “What are you scared of? This loser isn’t even worthy of you.”
As Henry hurled insults at me, Faith remained quiet.
I had lived with her for nine years. I knew her all too well.
“Faith, what are you crying for? Do you really care about me? Stop pretending. You cheated on me, and now you’re pretending to be the victim.
“I’m done! We’re getting divorced today!” I shouted.
There was no turning back for Faith and me. Our divorce was finalized without a single complication.
