Eight Months Pregnant, He Signed For My Death Chapter 05

Eight Months Pregnant, He Signed For My Death Chapter 05

On the day of the wedding, Caleb clearly didn’t trust me to behave. Before the ceremony even began, he had his

bodyguards escort me to the bridal suite and kept me under

watch.

Lexi pouted sweetly, clinging to him. My dress is too heavy. I can’t bend down to put on my shoes. Mrs. Vance, could you help me?”

Caleb frowned slightly, his gaze drifting toward me out of instinct. I lowered my eyes, crouched down, and lifted the hem of her gown to slip the shoes onto her feet.

He watched me with a complicated expression, lips pressed tight as if he wanted to say something. But Lexi nudged him

playfully.

Babe, I’m thirsty. Go get me some orange juice.”

At once, Caleb smiled, ruffling her hair before turning to leave.

The moment the door shut behind him, Lexi’s expression

changed.

Her foot slammed hard into my chest.

I staggered back, barely keeping my balance as she looked down at me with cold contempt.

Vivian Rhodes, do you really think I’m some cheap gold digger who latched onto a rich man?” she sneered. You

probably don’t even know this, but Caleb and I have been

together for nearly ten years.”

The shock must have shown on my face, because her smile

turned vicious.

He said I was too young to suffer with him, so he only dated

me and married you instead.”

My mind went blank.

He was afraid of owing me,she continued, her voice

dripping with mockery. The first money he ever made? He

told you it was taken by debt collectors. In reality, he spent it on designer bags for me.”

She let out a soft laugh.

Every time I felt wronged, he had people come to your house pretending to collect debts, just so he could take the money

and buy me more bags. One point eight million dollars in total.

Oh, and there was a bracelet too. It was worthless, so I threw it

away.”

My entire body started trembling uncontrollably.

One point eight million.

That was the money I had earned, working myself to the bone, just to help him repay those socalled debts.

At my worst, I had collapsed on a factory assembly line, nearly getting dragged into the machinery.

When Caleb found out, he had held me tightly, shaking, saying

it was his fault.

Back then, I had even patted his back, smiling, telling him I

didn’t blame him.

What a joke.

Every word had been a lie.

He had been deceiving me all along.

Lexi wasn’t done,

Then you got pregnant, she went on casually. I was so mad I refused to let him touch me. So he teamed up with one of his

business partners and staged a little scene. They forced alcohol down your throat until you miscarried.”

My ears rang.

You have no idea, do you?she added, her voice almost gleeful. While you were unconscious in the operating room, fighting for your life, he was on the phone with me, begging

me not to be mad at him.”

The words hit me like a blunt force to the skull. My vision went

dark.

Suddenly, her face twisted with resentment.

And even though he loves me that much, he still refuses to divorce you and marry me,she spat. You’re nothing but a reminder of his past. He feels guilty because you suffered with him, so he keeps you around to suppress me.”

Then she laughed.

Tell me, what do you think would happen if Caleb found out you hurt the baby in my stomach? Do you think he’d still care about your little history together?”

A chill shot down my spine.

I turned and ran for the door.

Behind me, Lexi suddenly grabbed a champagne bottle and

smashed it against her own stomach.

Caleb! Help me!she screamed.

The door burst open a second later.

Caleb rushed in, grabbed my wrist, and threw me to the

ground.

His eyes were bloodshot as he looked at Lexi collapsed on the floor, blood spreading beneath her dress.

It wasn’t meThe words never made it out. His hand

clamped around my throat, cutting me off.

Vivian!he roared. You couldn’t even spare a child? You disgust me!”

His voice turned ice cold.

You made Lexi lose her baby. Then don’t blame me for what I do to your dead parents.”

Terror flooded me as he gave the order without hesitation.

Dig up her parentsgraves. Grind their bones and dump them

into the sewer.”

No!I screamed. Caleb, you’re insane! There are cameras in the room! Check the footage! I didn’t do this!”

But he didn’t even look at me.

Lexi forced myself to my feet, stumbling toward the window.

The baby’s gone. What’s the point of me living? She cried

out hoarsely. If you want to frame me, go ahead!”

Caleb’s expression changed instantly.

He shoved me aside and rushed forward, catching Lexi in his

arms.

When he looked back at me, his gaze was cold and final.

Vivian, you’ve used up the last of my goodwill,he said, each word deliberate. You hurt the woman I love and my child. I

won’t let you get away with it.”

He turned to his men.

Send her to prison. Tell them to take good care of her. I don’t want her having a single easy day in there.”

Ignoring every red light along the way, Caleb sped to the

hospital.

Carrying Lexi in his arms, he rushed straight into the

emergency room.

Save my wife and my child!he shouted. If you can keep the

baby alive, I’ll donate ten million dollars to this hospital!”

The doctor on duty froze for a moment, staring at him.

Mr. Vance?”

He glanced between Caleb and the pale, fragile Lexi on the gurney, confusion written all over his face.

Your child?he asked slowly. Mr. Vanceyou were

diagnosed with azoospermia. You’re infertile. How could you

have a child?
