Carrying His First Love’s Child Chapter 05

Carrying His First Love’s Child Chapter 05

As soon as I stepped into the room, I pulled out the documents and read through them from beginning to end.

To my shock, they turned out to be dossiers on the female celebrities signed under Josiah’s

entertainment company.

All of them shared a grim fate. Either they sank into depression and took their own lives, or they died suddenly under mysterious circumstances.

Only when I finished reading did the horrifying truth hit me. They weren’t taking their own lives at all. They were forced.

I tucked the files away and immediately arranged. for someone to start tailing both Winona and Josiah.

I knew Josiah would be attending a party in a month where my presence would be required.

There would be someone at that party whom Josiah was desperate to impress.

As luck would have it, I had a connection with that

person.

I’d saved their grandson once during a vacation, back when we were at a tourist spot.

In my previous life, when Josiah’s company hit rockbottom, I had gone to that very same person to beg for help on Josiah’s behalf.

That person had owed me a favor.

For the past month, Winona’s social media had been nothing but a flood of loveydovey posts with Josiah.

I glanced at them once or twice, then couldn’t be bothered anymore.

But when I started digging into Winona’s past, I found something that left me reeling. She was already married.

She and Josiah had a child together, but they were never truly together. It wasn’t just because Josiah hated her.

The truth was, Winona’s husband was a powerful

man.

Back in the day, he’d pursued her like a man possessed, completely infatuated, determined to make her his and only his.

But over time, that obsession soured.

Not only did he start chasing after younger, prettier women, but the moment Winona tried to push back, he started abusing her at home.

There was a time when she got pregnant, but he beat her so badly that she miscarried. She almost lost the ability to conceive altogether.

To be safe, she had her eggs frozen.

That was exactly why, in my previous life, I ended up carrying Winona and Josiah’s child.

The only reason Winona was clinging to Josiah so tightly now was that she was trying to escape her abusive husband.

As I stared at all the information I’d uncovered, I realized how much of a complete fool I’d been in my previous life, letting those two play me like a puppet.

But it didn’t matter now. This time, I’d make them pay. I wanted them to feel every ounce of the pain I went through.

I packed the documents away.

I did the math. Winona should already be pregnant by now.

Drawing on what I remembered from before, I headed to the hospital and waited for Josiah and Winona to show up for their prenatal appointment.

Once they arrived, I snapped a photo and saved it.

Just as I turned to leave, my phone started ringing. Casper’s name lit up the screen.

I picked up. Hello?”

A voice replied, Hi, I’m a friend of Casper’s. Are you his girlfriend?”

The truth was, I wasn’t even sure where things stood between Casper and me anymore.

After that day, I got so caught up in Josiah’s mess that I hadn’t really kept in touch with him.

After a moment’s hesitation, I replied, Yeah, I am. What’s going on?”

He’s drunk. Could you come pick him up?his friend said.

I called a taxi and rushed over.

There he was, slumped over a table.

I walked up and called his name softly. Casper?”

He looked up, cheeks flushed and eyes hazy from the alcohol. His gaze locked onto mine.

I asked gently, Can you stand?”

Casper blinked groggily, then tried to push himself up, only to sway unsteadily. I quickly caught him. and helped him out.

I asked for his address. He frowned slightly, then mumbled it.

Once we arrived, I helped him up the stairs, his full weight leaning against me.

Just as I reached out to take the keys from him, he lost his balance entirely and collapsed onto me.

His hand pressed against the wall behind me.

His eyes bore down into mine.

His body pressed into mine, his chest tight against mine, as he looked down at me.

It felt like he was about to kiss me.

My heart raced, my throat dry. I whispered, Casper?”

His long, strong fingers pressed against my lips- not gently.

Our breaths mingled in the narrow space between us, his lips barely an inch from mine. His voice came out low and hoarse. Why did you lie to me?”

What?I asked.

He growled, Liar.”

His gaze was so dark and intense that it felt like it could swallow me whole. A cold shiver ran down my spine.

You promised you’d come find me,Casper said, voice trembling. But you lied again. Every single timeyou forget me.”

Do you have any idea how jealous I get every time I see you with him?he asked. I just want to lock you away and keep you all to myself.”

Casper tilted my chin up, pinned me tighter to the wall, and kissed me hard.

My heart trembled wildly as he devoured my breath, his arm wound tightly around my waist, our lips crashing in a fierce, desperate kiss.

I felt as if a tidal wave of pentup emotions poured into that kiss.

Suddenly, I felt a sharp tightness in my chest, like I couldn’t breathe.

I couldn’t help but wonderhad Casper watched me with Josiah, again and again, in our previous life too?

Did he have to keep forcing himself to let me go?

Was he completely heartbroken when he finally blocked me?

It took quite a bit of effort to get Casper onto the bed, but the moment I did, he wrapped his arms tightly around my waist and refused to let go.

Lying against him, I studied his long lashes, and his straight nose. Slowly, sleep overtook me, and I drifted off in his arms.

The next morning, as soon as I opened my eyes, I was met with Casper’s steady gaze.

Casper was incredibly handsome.

He had a totally different look from Josiahrougher, more dangerous, but far more captivating.

Yet in the past, I’d been too blind to see it. I’d only ever had eyes for Josiah.

His gaze made my cheeks flush. I opened my mouth, flustered. Last night, you were drunk-”

I did it on purpose,he cut in abruptly.

Then his voice dropped, low and dangerous. You wouldn’t come to meso I had no choice.”

You’re supposed to be mine now,” he said, so why are you still standing by Josiah’s side?”

Somehow, I caught a tinge of vulnerability in his voice.

I looked at him for a long moment, my heart growing heavier with every second.

I’m so sorry,I whispered. Just give me a little more time, okay?”

Casper’s eyes burned with aching intensity. Then he dipped his head and kissed me again.

And this time, I kissed him back.
