You Called Me Vulgar While I Was Vomiting Your Child Chapter 10
Julian and Vivian’s venture ultimately crashed and burned.
Vivian had to sell off several properties just to cover a fraction of the penalties, and the partners who once chased after her vanished into thin air.
She left the firm and moved back overseas.
Only this time, there was no one left to clean up her messes.
Julian resigned from his corporate post, liquidating his shares to settle the remaining debts.
He never got together with Vivian.
Nor did he remarry.
For the first few months, he still texted me.
Not to beg for a second chance, but to let me know he finally picked up the medical records and surgical
release forms from the hospital.
To tell me he finally learned how to cook pot roast, though no one was left to eat it.
To tell me everything in the nursery had been donated.
I left every single message unread.
We crossed paths one last time at the airport.
I was heading to Europe for a short training program.
Julian happened to be wrapping up some legal paperwork regarding his debts.
He spotted me through the crowd, but he didn’t charge over like he had a year ago.
As I walked past him, he simply murmured:
“How have you been?”
“Great.”
He watched me, a faint, melancholic smile touching his eyes.
“I’m glad.”
The PA system chimed for boarding.
I gave him a brief nod and headed for security.
Silence stretched out behind me.
Right as I turned the corner, Julian’s raspy voice drifted through the air:
“Claire, I’m still waiting.”
I didn’t look back.
That was his choice to make.
Just like walking away was mine.
For a long time, I had spent my life chasing after him and Vivian, terrified that if I fell too far behind, I’d be
left behind forever.
It was only later that I learned the truth.
Someone who truly loves you will never make you run yourself to the bone just to keep up.
And someone who doesn’t is never worth waiting for.
I rounded the corner, and Julian faded out of sight for good.
This time, he was the one left standing still, watching me walk into a world without him.
