You Called Me Vulgar While I Was Vomiting Your Child Chapter 09

Vivian didn’t care about any of that.

Her eyes welled up as she grabbed Julian by the arm.

“We can rebuild from scratch.

“Didn’t you promise that if I ever stopped running, you’d give me a home?”

“Claire doesn’t want you anymore, so why can’t we be together?”

Julian looked at her, every ounce of his former admiration completely gone.

“Was that group video call really an accident?”

Vivian stiffened.

“Of course it was.”

“The logs show you checked your phone three times after Claire joined.”

“You knew she was listening.”

All the color drained from Vivian’s face.

After a long silence, she snapped defensively:

“Fine, yes! I wanted her to hear!”

“I wanted to wake her up to reality. You never respected her in the first place-the person you actually wanted was me!”

Julian didn’t argue.

Because those vicious words had indeed come out of his own mouth.

He had no right to pin all the blame on Vivian.

“I was a bastard.”

“But you knew she was pregnant, and you knew she was on that line, yet you deliberately tortured her.”

“As of today, we are done. No more partnership, no more friendship.”

Vivian stared at him in utter disbelief.

“You’re going to throw away all these years together over a woman who can’t even compare to me?”

The front door clicked open right at that moment.

I walked out, rolling my suitcase behind me.

Vivian glared at me, her eyes burning with bitter resentment.

“Claire, what else are you good for besides playing the victim?”

“You knew julian loved me all along, so why did you trap him in a dead marriage for seven years?”

I met her gaze, my voice steady.

“Nobody is trapping him anymore.

“If you want him, take him.”

“Whatever happens between you two is none of my business.”

Vivian froze.

She had won against me for seven years.

Yet the moment I actually walked away, she realized Julian wasn’t running into her arms the way she

imagined.

Their proudest venture had collapsed entirely because they ignored my warnings.

I didn’t bother looking back as I rolled my luggage toward the exit.

Julian instinctively bolted after me.

“Where are you going?”

“to watch the northern lights.”

“I’ll go with you.”

I stopped, looking him dead in the eye for the very first time.

“Julian, this is my dream.”

“Stop trying to squeeze yourself into my

life.”

He froze in the snow, finally abandoning the chase.

That evening, I took a cab out into the countryside.

Hours later, the heavy cloud cover slowly parted.

A brilliant green ribbon of aurora erupted across the edge of the snow-capped peaks, swallowing the night sky.

I used to think watching this would fill me with regret.

Regret that I didn’t have the person who once promised to stay by my side.

Standing beneath the display, however, I felt nothing but weightless relief.

Some views don’t need a companion to feel complete.

The next morning, my lawyer forwarded the signed divorce papers from Julian.

A single sentence was attached at the bottom.

[Claire, I’m sorry.]

[This time, I respect your choice]

I closed the email without replying.

A year later, I stepped back into the corporate finance world.

No miracles, no overnight success stories.

I started over from an entry-level position, punching the clock every day and slowly reclaiming the life I had

once abandoned.

I reconnected with old friends, took up swimming on weekends, and traveled solo whenever I pleased.

I was still ordinary.

No one stood above me anymore, doling out pity and telling me that being ordinary meant hiding at home.
