When My Twin Sister Stole My Mate Chapter 05

When My Twin Sister Stole My Mate Chapter 05

Me air in Nova City was humid, filled with a sense of freedom. The scent of plant dyes and freshly pressed silk floated in the courtyard of the couture workshop.

I lived in a small cottage behind the workshop. This city did not belong to any Pack. The werewolf council’s reach could not extend here, and no one could dictate my life based on my status.

In the mornings, I would stand at the wide drafting table with my coffee, feeling the smoothness of scissors gliding through top-grade silk. In the evenings, I would sit by the floor-to-ceiling window, sketching my own designs in the sunset.

This tranquility felt so foreign I could hardly believe it.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in the forest territory, Killian was still frozen in my old studio.

He stared fixedly at the torn Pack totem sketch on the table, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.

This proud Alpha firmly believed I had just stormed off in a huff and would cool down on my own in a few days.

It had always been like this in the past. After a fight, I would either hide out at Mrs. B’s workshop or lock myself in the studio and work late into the night.

All he had to do was show up with blueberry crepes, lower his voice to coax me a little, and under the pull of the mate bond, my wolf would always soften and let him off the hook.

Killian tossed the dessert box onto the table and tried to reach me through the mind-link.

But all that remained on the other end was dead silence.

He frowned and dialed my phone number, which went straight to voicemail.

He opened our chat window and typed: Freya, stop throwing a fit.

A glaring red exclamation mark appeared next to the message. She had blocked him.

It was only then that his expression truly changed.

He immediately called Mrs. B to look for me.

As soon as the call connected, he demanded, “Is Freya with you?”

Hearing Killian’s tone, Mrs. B flared up, her voice ice-cold. “Oh, the almighty Alpha finally decided to look for his mate?”

“I don’t have time to play games with you. Put her on.”

“Freya is not here. She left a long time ago.”

“Left? Where did she go?”

“You’re her mate. You were supposed to complete your bonding ceremony yesterday. You shouldn’t have to ask me that question.”

Killian’s knuckles turned white around the phone.

“There were extenuating circumstances yesterday. Daisy was in shock and needed my comfort.”

“There are no extenuating circumstances,” Mrs. B said coldly. “Your mate was waiting for you at the altar,

wearing the gown she sewed herself. And yet you slipped the Luna’s bone ring onto her sister’s finger.

line went dead. Killian stood in the darkness for a long time.

Immediately after, my mother’s call came in.

“Killian, where did Freya run off to?”

“I am still looking for her.”

“Has that foolish girl lost her mind? The family already accepted the order for that velvet haute couture piece for the werewolf elite’s spring gala under Daisy’s name, and it is due next month! Daisy cannot even hold a pair of scissors steady right now, let alone handle those complicated tailoring techniques. She absolutely cannot produce the actual dress by herself!”

Her shrill voice was full of calculation.

“Get Freya back here right now. The family’s clothing company is counting on her to handle the actual design and complete the work.”

Killian gritted his teeth. “She severed our mind-link and blocked my number.”

“What?” My mother was exasperated. “Just because of that little incident at the ceremony, she’s willing to jeopardize the whole Pack? Does she even respect me as her mother anymore?”

Killian remained silent. He remembered Zane’s report from last night.

Freya had taken her passport and the studio property deed.

He had scoffed at the time, thinking it was just a ploy for his attention.

My mother was still rambling endlessly on the phone.

“I’m going to her studio right now. She knows better than to defy me. The moment I show up, running back.”

she’ll come

Killian did not voice a word to stop her, because subconsciously, he also thought it would play out exactly like that.

For all these years, whenever the family used our interests to guilt-trip me, I had always yielded.

Half an hour later, my mother called again. This time, her tone was completely different.

“Killian… she completely terminated the lease on the studio.”

Killian snapped his head up.

“Terminated the lease?”

“I had the building manager open the door. The cabinets are empty, not a single client file is left, and all the design sketches were taken. She didn’t even ask for the remaining half-year’s rent. She just forfeited the deposit and walked away.”

My mother sounded like she was spiraling into a panic.

“That studio was her lifeblood! What exactly is she trying to do?”

Killian abruptly hung up the phone.

He grabbed his car keys and sped all the way back to the Alpha estate on the edge of the forest.
The front door swung open. Daisy was curled up on the expensive leather sofa, wrapped in a woolen blanket and holding a cup of hot milk.

“Killian, you are back.”

He didn’t even glance at her. Seething with violent rage, he strode right past her.

Zane followed quickly behind him toward the study.

“Since Freya left, has anyone entered this room?”

“Absolutely not.”

Killian kicked the study door open.

The safe was wide open. The desk was completely bare. All the documents belonging to Freya had vanished.

Only that cheap cubic zirconia bracelet was left abandoned on the corner of the desk like a joke.

She did not even bother taking anything that belonged to him.

Killian stared fixatedly at that corner, the golden light in the depths of his eyes slowly fading away.

He turned and strode to the drafting table in the living room.

The dust cover had fallen to the floor, and the couple’s prototypes were shredded to pieces. The satin hung limply, looking like shed skin.

Zane spoke in a low voice beside him. “She only took the things that belonged to her.”

Killian did not make a sound. He reached out and grabbed the pile of shredded fabric.

A forgotten brooch pierced his finger, and blood immediately welled up.

Standing not far away, Daisy spoke up timidly. “Alpha, will my sister still come back?”

If it were the past, he would have said, “Of course she will,” without a second thought.

But this time, the words got lodged in his throat. He opened his mouth, but he could not utter a single word.
