When I Dreamed of the Alpha Again Chapter 05
My chest tightened violently.
I stared at him blankly.
He was calm. Composed. Detached.
He wasn’t an eighteen-year-old Nathan.
He was the Nathan Hayes who had tormented me for three years in my previous life.
My eyes turned red as I stepped back, watching him with full guard raised.
But Nathan only smiled-and walked toward me step by step.
“Allie… why are you so afraid of me?”
“Stop! Don’t come closer!”
My whole body trembled. Not only from fear-but from anger.
From the buried resentment of the old Allie who had never been allowed to speak.
“Because I hate you!”
“I don’t want to see you at all!”
“I already did exactly what you wanted-I stayed away from you, as far as I could. So why? Why are you still dragging me into all this?!”
“Nathan… what do you need from me before you’ll let me go?!”
Nathan stopped.
A faint, knowing smile appeared on his face.
“So that’s it,” he said softly. “I knew it. I know you too well, Allie.”
“You’re asking me when I’ll let you go… but what about you? In this life, are you going to let Tiffany
go?”
“It wasn’t me!”
I completely broke down, shouting at him.
“It wasn’t me! Why are you so sure I killed Tiffany? Why do you assume I won’t let her either? Why would I even hurt her?!”
Nathan’s expression cooled instantly, his lips curling into a faint, mocking smile.
“Why?”
go
this time
“You once wrote in your diary: ‘If Tiffany didn’t exist in this world, Nathan would still belong only
to me like before.’”‘
“Wasn’t that you?”
“If not you… then who else could it be?”
My body froze under the night sky.
Diary?
How did Nathan know what was written in my diary?
I had burned it not long after I wrote it.
So he had known all along that I liked him. That must be why he was so certain I had killed Tiffany.
All those secret thoughts I poured onto paper in the dead of night my longing, my bitterness, my jealousy-had all become “evidence” of motive.
I couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
“Yes,” I said quietly. “I did like you. I even wrote it in my diary when I was young.”
“I was just upset that the brother who used to only look at me slowly started looking away.”
“If that counts as a motive to hurt Tiffany, then I can tell you clearly-this time, that motive doesn’t exist anymore.”
My voice steadied.
“Because right now… I don’t have even a trace of liking for you.”
I finally looked up at him, word by word.
“Now I fear you. I hate you. I just want to stay far away from you.”
“Hate me?”
Nathan’s expression darkened instantly, his face half-lost in the night.
“Allie, what right do you have to hate me?”
“My mother liked you. She treated you as my future Luna since you were a child. Even if I hated her
control… I still once thought about taking care of you for the rest of your life.”
“But why did you have to destroy her?”
“Why did you… of all things, commit the one mistake between us that can never be forgiven in this lifetime?”
This was the first time since Tiffany’s death’that Nathan and I had spoken face-to-face about her
I looked at him quietly, only feeling unfamiliar.
In both lives, he had never believed me. There was nothing more to say.
“If we’ve been given a chance to start over,” I said calmly, “I hope you don’t repeat the same
mistakes.”
Nathan’s expression returned to cold composure.
“Tiffany has always had a harder life than us. I don’t want her to suffer again because of me.”
“This time, I’ll stay by her side and protect her properly.”
“If anyone hurts her again, I won’t let them go-including you.”
“Don’t worry,” I replied flatly. “If I can help it, I don’t want any connection with either of you in this
life.”
Nathan paused for a moment.
“That would be best.”
Watching his figure disappear into the darkness, I felt something inside me finally severed-like a thread snapping cleanly. My body suddenly felt lighter.
Even if Nathan knew I had been reborn, Tiffany did not know that I knew her secret.
If history repeated itself, she would never again directly accuse me.
From now on, I could live peacefully with my parents. Healthy. Ordinary. Safe.
As for everyone else’s fate… what did it have to do with me?
Nathan, Tiffany-they had already become strangers to me.
Slowly, I even made new friends. My life grew calm and full.
“Allie! I saved your seat! And I want my boba, hurry up!”
On the weekend, I had arranged to study at the library with my friends.
I crossed the street to buy boba-and saw a man and woman arguing nearby.
I tried to avoid them, but the man’s furious voice still cut through the air.
“Tiffany! So what if I slept with you? What, your mother said anything? Without me, would you even have a place to live? Would you even be able to go to school?”
“You still think you’re getting out of this? You don’t even want to go back to the pack house anymore?”
I froze.
At that exact moment, my eyes met Tiffany’s-panicked, searching desperately.
The blood in my body turned cold.
At the same time, Tiffany’s face went as pale as paper.
The same helplessness and suffocating darkness from my previous life surged back in waves.
It was already decided.
I had once again become the only witness to a secret I should never have known-
And the “murderer” this time… was someone I never expected.
