Warm My Frozen Heart Chapter 08

Yvonne’s gaze darkened. She said through clenched jaws, “Break up with her. That girl is just a fling, I’ll forgive you as long as you end things with her.”

I laughed and immediately shook off her hand.

“Who asked for your forgiveness? Have you completely lost your mind?

“Yvonne, do you have any idea how sick I am of you? What makes you think you’re in any position to forgive me?

Her face turned pale.

“I made mistakes, but you’re not innocent either, are you? Why can’t we both compromise? Why does it have to get so messy?”

‘Messy?’

I looked at her with contempt and asked calmly, “During our five years of marriage, you went from one affair to the next. Why couldn’t you compromise then? Why couldn’t you stop for a second and look at the husband you were destroying?

“The day after my car accident, you disappeared without a trace. You left me alone at home. You didn’t even say a single word of comfort.

“Yvonne, whatever we had ran out a long time ago. At least for me, you’re no different from a stranger now.”

“Do you understand?”

Her lips trembled. Her body swayed from side to side. She no longer had the strength to stop me.

All she could do was watch helplessly as I walked farther and farther away.

But Yvonne still refused to give up. She went to my parents and begged them to persuade me.

My father responded by setting the dogs on her and chasing her all the way down the street.

Only then did she finally understand that in my family’s eyes, she was no different from a pariah.

Her mom was furious and called me in the middle of the night.

“Jason, who do you think you are to treat my daughter like this? What exactly is she lacking? You’re an old man. Once you’re divorced, who’s going to want you? You spineless ”

“Morn!”

Yvonne cut her off in a panic. She immediately lowered her voice and apologized to me.

“Jason, don’t listen to my mom. She’s ”

Before she could finish, Jennifer’s hoarse voice cut her off.

“Don’t you have any respect for other people? Some of us are trying to sleep.”

With that, she hung up.

Three months into the proceedings in court, I was finally divorced.

That day, I nearly cried from being overjoyed.

The relationship that had trapped me for years finally ended. Jennifer wrapped herself around my arm and openly accompanied me out of the courthouse.

Yvonne stood there with a pale face. Her gaze looked hollow.

Her mom dragged her away in frustration. The entire time, Yvonne moved like a puppet without a soul. There was simply no resistance.

I stretched a little before holding Jennifer’s hand and walking away with her.
