They Dragged Me Off The Plane And Dozens Died Waiting Chapter 06
Sergeant Thompson’s hands were shaking. TheÂ
call had ended, but he was still in shock.Â
“Let her go. Let her go now.”Â
He fumbled with the handcuffs. His phone slippedÂ
out of his hand and hit the floor. He didn’t evenÂ
notice.Â
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know. I really didn’t know.”Â
I shook my head weakly. “It’s not your fault. ThisÂ
was never on you.”Â
“Dr. Carter, my name is Frank Morrison. Call meÂ
Frank.”Â
“I’ve already had them stop the plane. What do you think?” Frank had just made another call.Â
I looked at his phone. “Give me your phone. MineÂ
is destroyed.”Â
“Arrange an airport shuttle bus. We need to boardÂ
and take off as soon as possible.”Â
“I’ll use your phone to contact James.”Â
“I have one request for you all.”Â
“Sergeant Thompson. Especially you.”Â
Sergeant Thompson nodded. “Of course.Â
Whatever you need.”Â
“I’ve been exposed. Everyone who was filming andÂ
streaming–the enemy is sharp. They’ve already figured out who I am.”Â
“I need you to protect my family. Get them to FortÂ
Harrison.”Â
Sergeant Thompson looked confused. “Enemy?”Â
Frank explained. “Dr. Carter has disrupted multipleÂ
foreign intelligence operations.”Â
“But her identity stayed secret. That’s why theyÂ
haven’t been able to hurt her.”Â
“This time, they took those children and teachersÂ
to force Dr. Carter out into the open.”Â
“So they could confirm who she is and take herÂ
out.”Â
“Don’t worry, Dr. Carter. We will protect your familyÂ
with our lives,” Frank promised.Â
The officers gave a firm nod.Â
This time, their silence felt heavier.Â
“We will get this done. We’ll make up for ourÂ
mistake.” Sergeant Thompson’s eyes were red as he promised me.Â
I nodded. I saw the tactical team running towardÂ
us but didn’t stop to greet them.Â
Frank would handle it.Â
The police officers and security personnelÂ
escorted me to a shuttle bus.Â
By the time we reached the plane, the door was just opening.Â
A truck with the boarding stairs pulled up, and two officers climbed up with me.Â
When I saw Patricia sitting in my seat, I gave her a cold smile. “Get out.”Â
“You little bitch. Do you know who my son is? HeÂ
can keep you off any flight he wants.”Â
“How dare you talk to me like that? This is myÂ
seat. You’re the one who needs to leave.” She wasÂ
screaming at me, pointing her finger.Â
She didn’t even notice the officers behind me.Â
“Isn’t your son Brian Holloway?”Â
“Don’t worry. You’ll be reunited with him soonÂ
enough. In prison.”Â
The officers stepped forward. The handcuffsÂ
came out again.Â
Patricia was dragged off the plane withoutÂ
another word.Â
Finally, I sat down in my seat.Â
I watched the buildings slide backward throughÂ
the window.Â
Then came the push of the engines, and the planeÂ
lifted off.Â
I picked up the phone and sent a message toÂ
James.Â
[Good enough now?]Â
He replied a few minutes later. [Are you trying to get yourself killed?]Â
I couldn’t help but smile. [Let’s just call it fate.]Â
[Can’t talk anymore. Frank’s phone isn’t secureÂ
enough.]
