They Called Me the Family Outcast, I Sent Them to Trial Chapter 08
Viola held her cheek, staring at me in shock.
“M-Miss… Moretti?”
My father glanced at the badge on Tony’s chest
“Since when does a records clerk get to call himself Chairman of the Commission?”
Then he pinned the strike team badge onto my shoulder.
“And she isn’t the low-level associate’s adopted daughter you keep calling her.
“She is Elena Moretti, heir to the Moretti family and a strike team officer who earned her position after three years of missions.”
The room fell completely silent.
Security projected Tony’s employment file and access records onto the wall.
His job was to file records. He had no authority to make changes to the evacuation list.
Even the Commission car he arrived in had been taken without permission, just to make himself look important.
With the evidence right in front of everyone, Viola couldn’t pretend any longer.
“You wanted to believe me!” she shrieked at the crowd.
“I said a few words, and you actually skipped registration. How is that all my fault?”
Matteo was the first to lunge at her and grab her by the collar.
“You cost us our protection!”
“I canceled registration because of you!”
The others closed in on her.
“Aren’t you the Chairman’s daughter? Then save us!”
“We trusted you, and you made fools of us!”
Several people started hitting Viola.
My father immediately shouted for them to stop.
“Enough! All of you!”
The guards pulled the crowd apart and took Tony and Viola into custody.
My father said coldly, “Tony impersonated the Chairman of the Commission and obstructed an emergency evacuation. Viola spread false information and incited members to refuse registration. Take them both to Security for questioning.”
Tony begged over and over.
“Chairman, I only said a few words! I never meant to hurt anyone!”
My father pointed at the list on the wall.
“More than twenty people lost their protection because of your lies, and you claim you hurt no one?”
The crowd panicked again.
Without evacuation status, the criminal records they had hidden behind Family identities would be dug up by the FBI in no time
Matteo suddenly shoved past a guard and ran toward the underground tunnel.
He’d been assigned to guard the armory, so he knew the nearest entrance. His outer-door keycard was also still active.
“If they won’t reopen the list, we’re finished anyway!
“Come with me to the armory. If we take control of it, the Commission will have to listen to us!”
A few of the others rushed after him.
The rest still hesitated.
Viola suddenly screamed, “Take the armory! Without it, you have nothing to bargain with!”
That was enough. More people rushed into the tunnel.
In the chaos, Viola broke free from the guards and chased after them.
By the time Don Bellini deactivated their keycards, they had already locked the armory’s outer doors from the inside.
Minutes later, a livestream appeared on the Family’s internal network.
On camera, Matteo stood in front of the ammunition crates, holding up a lit flare.
“Reopen the evacuation list, or I’ll blow this place up!”
