The Wrong Baby Chapter 12
The Luna and Marcus went straight to Lily’s parents’ factory with a banner, demanding blood money and justice.
They even started a livestream online, claiming Lily was a murderer and Raven had only been forced into it.
They painted Raven as an innocent little victim.
And somehow, the pack network actually bought it. People really started believing Lily had done everything.
[I knew no one could be cruel enough to kill their own little brother. Turns out she had an evil friend pushing her into it!]
[Honestly, the aunt doesn’t seem like a good wolf either. She clearly led everyone into attacking a pup.]
Under the pressure of public opinion, Lily’s parents finally couldn’t hold out anymore.
They paid blood money.
Eight hundred thousand.
But the Luna and the others still weren’t satisfied. They insisted on another two hundred thousand.
“Is eight hundred thousand enough to buy my grandson’s life? I’m telling you, it has to be at least one million!” Raven cried as she said, “Lily, isn’t your pack rich? What’s wrong with giving my family another two hundred thousand?”
Lily’s parents were so furious that they pushed Lily forward and made her tell the truth.
Trembling all over, Lily played the recording from that day.
“What if someone finds out after we throw him down? He really won’t die, right? I think we shouldn’t do this.”
“Oh, relax. Aren’t you my best friend forever? I hate that little brat the most.”
“Isn’t he your cousin? Why are you calling him that?”
“A brat born from a shameless woman is still a brat. As long as he’s around, my mom and I can’t be happy. You’re too scared to do it, aren’t you? Fine. I’ll do it!”
Then came the sound of the window opening.
The winter wind howled through the recording.
The baby seemed to sense something and began crying loudly.
The next second, there was a heavy crash.
At that point, the truth was out.
Lily sobbed as she said, “I know I was wrong. I’m willing to go to juvenile detention and accept punishment. Raven Blackwood, you’re the real monster!
“She was jealous because her cousin got to live in a big house and had so many nice things. She just never expected to throw her own little brother down instead.”
The whole pack network erupted over the case.
Everyone called for both girls to be punished.
But because they were both pups under pack law, and because the death had not legally been treated as direct murder, the law couldn’t send them to the dungeons.
This time, Raven truly became famous.
She didn’t dare go to school at all because everyone called her a murderer.
She hid at home every day, begging Marcus to move away with her.
But the moment the blood money reached Marcus’s hands, he drank and gambled it all away.
How could he possibly have money to take her anywhere?
When Damien was finally released from the Council, the first thing he said was that Marcus and Raven should move into my house.
By the time I rushed back from my birth pack’s territory, it was already too late.
Marcus was there.
Raven was there.
Even the Luna had come.
Raven had taken over my son’s nursery and was inside watching TV and eating snacks.
Marcus had even moved into the master bedroom.
The moment I stepped through the door, I was hit by the thick stench of dirty feet. Cigarette butts were scattered everywhere, and there was a dark, sticky stain on the carpet that I didn’t even want to identify.
Damien sat on the couch and waved me toward the kitchen.
“Go help Mom cook.”
I went straight to the breaker box and cut the power.
Then I opened the door.
“This is my house. Get out.”
Damien frowned, displeased.
“What do you mean, your house? My pack is your pack.”
I laughed from sheer anger.
“Your niece tried to kill my son. Where do you get the nerve to say we’re pack?”
“Why are you bringing that up again? Our son is fine, isn’t he? The one who died was my nephew. I’m already being generous by not asking you for blood money!”
Marcus walked out of the bedroom, annoyed.
“Why is the power out? Selene, can you stop being so petty?
“My daughter is just a pup. Why are you holding a grudge against a pup?”
Raven stepped barefoot onto the tile floor, licking grease from her fingers.
“Aunt Selene, why didn’t Nico come back? Don’t worry. I just want to see him.”
She smiled at me.
“You’re not scared I’ll throw him out the window again, are you?”
Her provocation made anger surge through my chest. My eyes flashed gold.
But Raven still looked fearless, baring her teeth like she had learned nothing at all.
So this incident hadn’t changed her one bit.
Damien stepped between us.
“Selene, she’s just joking. Don’t take it seriously.”
I pushed his hand away and said coldly, “You protect her so much, I almost thought she was your daughter.”
Damien’s pupils shrank.
He raised his voice at once.
“What nonsense are you talking about? My brother is right here!”
I walked straight toward Raven.
Thinking I was going to hit her, she quickly ran to the side.
But I only went to the TV cabinet and pulled out the paternity test report.
Then I threw it directly at Marcus.
“Marcus, take a good look. See whose daughter she really is.”
