The Pet My Family Gave Me Was the Secret Behind Her Miracle Recovery Chapter 10

The female officer blinked in surprise before saying, “I’ll have someone bring it over. Honestly, this is the first

time I’ve ever seen such a well–behaved exotic pet kangaroo. It hasn’t made a sound or caused any trouble. Is

it sick?”

I smiled.

“Maybe it’s just hungry.”

After she left, I turned to look at the kangaroo.

Of course it had been behaving itself.

It was surrounded by cops. If it kept going berserk and hurt someone, the police would have taken it into

custody.

But the second the officer was gone, the kangaroo seemed to realize it was safe.

The hatred in its eyes was unmistakable.

It looked exactly like Serena.

Before, whenever the kangaroo tried to attack someone, it had never looked at them like that.

Could it be…

Had Serena realized how drastically things had changed?

She might not have gone to prison, but she was still under guard at the hospital. Sooner or later, she was

going to die anyway.

Maybe she had decided she had nothing left to lose and was willing to gamble on one last chance.

Was that why this had happened?

Had Serena used some kind of dark magic to share the kangaroo’s vision?

Or worse, had she somehow taken over the animal’s soul and seized control of its body?

The moment the kangaroo confirmed that I was the one standing in front of it, it charged at me like its life

depended on it.

I was ready.

The knife had been waiting in my hand.

As it lunged, I drove the blade straight into its heart.

The kangaroo stared at me, its eyes wide with terror and confusion.

I looked straight into them.

“Serena, I could have killed you a long time ago. But after everything you got to enjoy for all those years, why

should I have let you die so easily?”

My lips curled into a cold smile.

“So I let you stay a little longer. Long enough to watch everything you thought belonged to you become

mine.”

I leaned closer.

“You said you won. You said no one ever chose me.”

My voice was calm.

“In my last life, maybe that would have broken my heart. Maybe I would have cried over it.”

I paused.

“But I’ve already died once.”

“I know what matters now. I know what’s best for me.”

I tightened my grip on the knife.

“So you can die first.”

A cruel smile spread across my face.

“And when those parents of yours find out their precious Serena is dead, maybe they’ll love you enough to

follow you to Hell.”

Then I yanked the knife free.

Blood sprayed across my face.

The kangaroo’s body immediately collapsed, deflating like a punctured balloon.

I stared at the carcass.

What the hell kind of dark magic was that?

The moment I was discharged from the hospital, I hired an attorney and used the contracts I had secured to

take control of the company.

At first, my knowledge and experience weren’t enough.

A lot of people challenged me.

So I got rid of every one of them who stood in my way.

Then I brought in several of the best corporate management professionals in the country to help run the

company.

But the real power remained in my hands.

I managed the company while learning everything I could about running it. I studied constantly and wasted

no time.

On the day my parents were finally hauled off to prison, I carved time out of my schedule just to pay them a

visit.

I wanted to tell them exactly how Serena had died.

They completely lost it.

They screamed at me, cursed me, and wished me dead.

They called me a murderer.

But I simply looked at them and said, “Do you know something?”

“Serena was the one who tampered with your car.”

“And she was the one who sold your company’s confidential information.”

Their faces froze.

“Because she’d known about her real identity for a long time.”

“She did all of it to keep you under control. To make sure you stayed on her side.”

I smiled faintly.

“And it worked. She got exactly what she wanted.”

I paused before adding, “Of course, getting heart disease probably wasn’t part of her plan.”

For a moment, neither of them said a word.

Then they both seemed to forget how to speak.

They collapsed onto the floor.

After that, I heard that they spent their years in prison completely broken.

They lived in a haze, day after day, until their health gave out.

Within a few years, they were dead.

As for me, I kept learning.

Day and night, I studied everything I needed to know about running the company.

Little by little, I became capable of taking over every aspect of the business myself.

And whenever I had the time, I searched for that damned Dark Voodoo Priestess.

She was one of the people responsible for my death in my last life, even if indirectly.

I never stopped looking for her.

But that Dark Voodoo Priestess was good at disappearing.

No matter how hard I searched, I couldn’t find her.

Maybe she sensed that I was coming for her.

Maybe she always knew when to run.

Ten years later, I had finally become the kind of leader I had once never imagined I could be.

A capable, knowledgeable businesswoman who no longer needed anyone else’s approval to stand on her

own.

Under my leadership, my parents‘ company grew bigger and stronger every year.

And eventually, I became one of the most well–known entrepreneurs in the country.
