The Neighbor’s Cat Destroyed His Lies Chapter 09

The Neighbor’s Cat Destroyed His Lies Chapter 09

I had still left one question unanswered.

Julian had also asked me why I could not give him another chance.

My parents could not understand it either. Forgiving Julian was clearly the best choice for me, so why did I so stubbornly refuse?

Because I once loved him too deeply!

The deeper the love, the deeper the hurt. The pain had spread to every cell in my body. Every time I saw him, the grief broke me.

I had no other choice.

I had to let go.

I deliberately avoided any contact with Julian and blocked out all news about him.

Half a month later, I finally heard about his recent situation from my parents.

Julian neglected his company affairs. He was‘ preoccupied with other matters, leading to his company becoming insolvent and being acquired by others for a pittance.

Ivy was not sent abroad as planned. She had been recuperating in the hospital, and Julian frequently visited her.

My parents could not resist gossiping.

“Thank goodness you were ruthless enough not to forgive him. We almost ruined you.

“His company’s in shambles, and he’s still obsessed with that cheap mistress. If you’d remarried, he’d have pretended to be kind to you while plotting behind your back”

I could not be bothered to respond to anything about Julian and deflected the topic by brushing it off dismissively.

Just as I was finally letting go of the past and was moving forward with calm resolve, Ivy suddenly came looking

for me.

Gone was her former radiant beauty. Her once–rounded belly had shrunk, and her eyes hollowed with sickly pallor.

Suddenly, I remembered that long–lost Ragdoll cat.

“What are you here for?

“Julian must have told you. The apartment next door that he gave you was purchased with marital assets. It’s now been awarded to me.

“You have no right to stay there anymore.”

Ivy’s eyes no longer held their former superiority or defiance. She knelt before me and pleaded.

“Clara, please don’t misunderstand! I’m not here to cause trouble. I’m here begging for help!

“Julian has gone mad! He… he abandoned his company on the brink of bankruptcy and rushed me to the hospital early, claiming he needed to help care for my pregnancy. I ought he loved me, he was afraid that something would harm the baby But it wasn’t like that at all!

“My child was perfectly fine, yet I miscarried inexplicably. The doctor treating me left the country without a trace.

“I tried to leave the hospital, but Julian blocked my exit. He must be plotting against me. He’s grown increasingly strange lately, even murmuring your name in his sleep.

“Clara, only you can save me now!”

I stared at her in utter bewilderment. What on earth was Ivy playing at?

Julian had lost me. Logically, he should be pouring all his love into Ivy. Why would he do something to harm her?

I could not make sense of it.

I also did not care to waste brain cells on them. I gave Ivy a cold reply.

“Sorry, Julian and I are no longer involved with each other. Deal with your own problems yourself!”

As I moved to close the door, Ivy clung desperately to the frame.

“How could you abandon me? Julian must have gone mad trying to win you back. That’s why he attacked me! How could you ignore me after what you’ve done to me?”

could not help but laugh at her. “Did I ruin you, or did you bring this upon yourself?

“Forget about your actions as the homewrecker.

“You gained Julian’s favor, moved into a big house, and had his child. If you kept it hidden, you could’ve lived comfortably for life. Yet you weren’t satisfied. You wanted more. You deliberately revealed your affair to provoke

me.
“You ended up in this mess. Isn’t that what you deserved?”

After I said this, Ivy’s face shifted from fear to deep, agonizing regret.

Once a bright, promising young woman, one misstep had ruined her reputation. Her label as the “other woman” had spread nationwide.

Her life had been irrevocably ruined.
