The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 01

The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 01

Brianna’s POV

The victory party for taking over Red Hook, Brooklyn, was in full swing.

Gary Costa, the Don of the Costa family, downed three whiskeys in a row, grinning with pride.

His personal secretary, Jessica, the one he’d promoted, leaned in and whispered for him to slow down. Then she neatly placed a piece of king crab onto his plate.

But as his wife, I knew better. He was deathly allergic to seafood. I opened my mouth to stop him.

Gary didn’t even notice. He smiled and popped the crab meat into his mouth, chewing casually.

My heart dropped.

I whispered quickly. “Costa, that’s seafood…”

Gary lifted a hand and cut me off. “It’s fine.”

He didn’t care at all.

I froze for a second. Then a thought hit me like lightning.

My gaze snapped to Jessica, sitting right beside him.

She stared at the ruler of Brooklyn’s underworld like he hung the moon—admiration, worship, all over her face.

After a long breath, I stood up sharply.

“Don Costa, I want a divorce.”

The ballroom went dead silent.

Every made man in the Costa family was there and they all stared at me in shock.

Gary frowned slightly. “Brianna, you’ve had too much to drink.”

Before I could reply, Gary glanced around the room.

“Who’s sober? Take the Donna home. She’s drunk.”

“Don Costa, I haven’t been drinking,” the Capo of Gowanus spoke up.

Gary looked back at me, softening his voice.

“Honey, go back to the mansion. I’ll come by after the party.”

I stared him down and repeated myself, colder.

“Are you deaf, Gary? I want a divorce.”

Every eye in the room locked onto me.

When I’d said it the first time, he’d brushed it off.

To everyone there, he’d given me all the dignity of a Costa Donna. I shouldn’t have been causing a scene.

Gary wasn’t just my husband. He was the unchallenged king of this borough.

As his Donna, I wasn’t supposed to humiliate him in front of the family.

But I didn’t back down. I ignored the out he’d handed me.

I was making a mess of things—acting crazy, in their eyes.

But they only dared think it. Everyone held their breath, not even daring to twitch a finger.

“Brianna, don’t make me do something I’ll regret in here.”

Gary’s voice held a brutality that could crush bone. His bloodstained eyes pinned me in place.

He was warning me.

This was his territory, his victory party. His authority wasn’t to be challenged.

But I let out a cold, sharp laugh. My voice was hard as steel.

“Tomorrow I’ll have my lawyer draw up the papers. Sign them, and we’re done for good.”

I turned to leave.

Gary slammed his fist down and swept the crystal glass off the table.

Shatter.

The sound made everyone’s hearts jump into their throats.

Everyone was too stunned to even breathe.

Only Jessica stood up, murmuring to Gary.

“Don Costa, please don’t upset yourself. You’ve worked so hard to take Red Hook. You’ve drunk a lot tonight. You’re exhausted. Don’t ruin your health over this.”

Gary let out a bitter, selfmocking laugh.

“Brianna, do you hear it? Even Jessica knows I poured every second, every bit of energy into this territory. I haven’t slept properly in months.”

“She’s been right there with me—planning, assigning men.”

“I bust my ass for the family, for a better life for you.”

“She gives me one piece of crab, and it’s a crime?”

“You overreact this much over—”

I slammed a bottle against the floor, and it shattered into pieces.

I was sick of this.

Sick of wasting years on him.

Sick of being blind.

I stepped close to him, leaned into his ear, and said it softly.

“Even if that crab kills you?”

His eyes blew wide.
