The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 02

The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 02

The door burst open and Kieran rushed inside.

His face drained of all color the moment he saw what was happening.

He grabbed my wrist. The sharp shard of glass cut into his palm. “Vivian! Are you really trying to die?! Is this… is this what you want?”

Chaos erupted in the room. Nurses screamed in alarm while healers hurried in.

I stared straight into Kieran’s eyes filled with sheer terror.

He had already chosen Selene, so why did he still try to stop me?

Under everyone’s restraint, I was forcibly injected with sedatives.

The next afternoon, I woke up. Kieran wasn’t there. Only Scarlett sat by the bed.

She wore a pink ballet dress, her messy hair tied into two small buns. She twisted the edges of a note in her hands constantly.

She pouted the second she noticed me awake, “Mom, can you please just get out of the hospital? This is so annoying.”

I blinked.

She hugged the note tightly to her chest, “The rehearsal is tomorrow. The teacher said you have to be there, but you just keep lying here. Daddy never comes home anymore, and Selene cried all night long. Everyone is sad all because of you.”

She leaned closer, her little face dead serious, “Mom, you are an adult, can you not be more considerate?”

I looked at my own daughter, feeling nothing but utter absurdity.

Perhaps she was merely frightened, after all, she had watched them draw my blood with her own eyes that night.

My voice came out hoarse and rough, “Scarlett, that night… when they were taking my blood, were you scared?”

Her eyes turned red instantly, “Yes.”

My heart clenched tight.

“But…” She lowered her head and picked at her dress. “The nurses were running around, and Daddy was shouting. And Selene was holding his hand the whole time. She looked like she was in so much pain.”

“Mom, you’re so strong. Daddy said you’re the Moon Goddess’s favorite, and that your blood can work miracles. Can’t you just help her?”

The last trace of warmth in my heart faded into icy coldness, and silent tears slipped down onto my hands.

Scarlett pushed the note right in front of me, “Selene said she will take me there if you refuse to go. She promised she would help me win first place.”

I lowered my gaze and caught sight of Selene’s elegant handwriting filling the parent signature section.

My fingers sank deep into the sheets.

Scarlett spoke even more softly, “Besides, Selene dances way better than you. She said you will only hold me back.”

I remembered her fourth birthday. She had scraped her knee and sobbed in my arms, saying over and over that only Mommy’s kisses could make it better.

And now, she wanted to replace me.

I pushed the note away, “Then let her take you.”

Scarlett gasped in surprise, “See, Mom? There you go again. Selene said you just love making people feel guilty.”

The door opened. Kieran walked in, catching Scarlett’s last sentence.

Seeing her teary eyes, he glared sharply at me, “Vivian is only seven years old. Must you badmouth her own father right in front of her?”

I kept silent without a word.

Scarlett hid herself behind him, “Daddy, is mommy going to leave us?”

Kieran’s expression turned as cold as ice, “Have you lost your mind, Vivian? None of this would have happened if you hadn’t acted out like this. All of this is your fault.”

The two people I had once loved more than anything now treated me like worthless trash.

Every last bit of hope inside me vanished completely.

I closed my eyes and shut them out of my world entirely.

Later that night, when the hallway fell quiet, I pulled out the IV tube and climbed the stairs leading to the rooftop alone.

The pack blood bank was located on the top floor, where the air was bitterly cold.

My wounds were already slow to heal due to my poor health, and they would surely split open again within minutes in such frigid weather.

I sat outside the heavy steel door and unwrapped the bandages around my body. Piercing cold winds swept over me, stinging my unhealed wounds sharply.

“My child, are you ready?” the Moon Goddess whispered softly beside my ear.

I nodded slightly, “Yes.”

A beam of moonlight washed over me. I closed my eyes, and at last, I found a long-lost peace in my heart.

However, the silence of the rooftop was shattered by the sound of hurried footsteps.

Kieran appeared, his face twisted with terror and panic. He swept me into his arms, his whole body trembling violently. “Vivian! What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to completely ruin Scarlett’s rehearsal?”
