Standing before the pack was Stella, her white coat stained with blood.
She lowered her eyes and let out a heavy, deliberate sigh.
“I’m so sorry. We did everything we could. The resuscitation was unsuccessful. The Luna has been pronounced dead.”
The members of the Ironclaw Pack broke.
Their heart-wrenching sobs exploded in the hallway.
Then, Stella’s tone shifted.
With a hint of accusation in her voice, she maliciously pointed the finger at me.
“Actually, she had a very good chance of survival. Unfortunately, the lead healer, Cora, made a critical misjudgment, which led to…”
Her words were like a spark in a powder keg. The fury of every wolf ignited.
“Where is Cora? Why won’t she show her face?”
“She’s a quack who played with the Luna’s life! We want answers!”
The pack was enraged, howling for my blood.
I sat in my wheelchair, watching her twist the truth.
In the chaos, a wolf guard’s eyes locked onto my ID badge. He read it out, word by word.
“Top Healer, Cora!”
At his words, every head turned to me.
The Ironclaw Alpha had been slumped on the floor, weeping. Hearing my name, he lost all control.
He scrambled to his feet, eyes bloodshot, and lunged at me like a wild animal, unleashing a terrifying wave of Alpha Aura.
“It was you! You’re the incompetent quack who killed my Luna!”
He grabbed my collar, his sharp claws digging into my throat.
The violent pull tore at the wound in my right leg. I sucked in a sharp breath of pain.
The surrounding wolf guards swarmed forward, losing control.
Shoving, roaring, killing intent crashed down on me from all sides.
“Murderer!”
“How can you live with yourself after killing our Luna?”
“A life for a life!”
Weakened by the silver, I was completely powerless.
All I could do was grip the wheelchair, endure the pain and humiliation, and try to explain.
But again and again, my voice was drowned out by roars of rage.
“It wasn’t me! I had nothing to do with this. I wasn’t even there!”
But in front of the furious pack, my defense was pathetic and weak.
Standing behind the crowd, Stella watched them mob me.
A vicious, cold smile played on her lips.
“Cora, are you still trying to deny it?”
She raised her voice, feigning heartbreak.
“You caused a medical disaster, refused to take responsibility, and then deliberately injured yourself. You’re clearly trying to escape judgment!”
Her words sealed my “guilt.”
The scene spiraled into total chaos.
In the confusion, one of the wolf guards snarled, “Faking an injury, are you? Let’s see how you fake this!”
Before the words were even out, he lifted his foot and kicked the side of my wheelchair with all his might.
The unstable chair tipped instantly.
I lost my balance and crashed onto the cold, hard floor.
Then, the guard lifted his foot and stomped down with all his strength on my freshly bandaged right leg.
“Ah!”
A soul-tearing pain ripped through my body.
I couldn’t hold it in. A shrill scream escaped my lips.
I curled up on the floor, shaking uncontrollably from the pain.
The Enforcers and Julian heard the commotion and rushed over.
The Enforcers drew their tranquilizer pistols, loaded with wolfsbane, and pushed through the crowd, shielding me.
“Stop! This is the Neutral Sanctuary! Not even an Alpha can carry out a lynching here!”
The Ironclaw Alpha grabbed the Enforcer’s sleeve.
“Enforcer! This healer’s mistake killed my Luna! Arrest her and execute her!”
A chorus of accusations rose up again from all sides.
Every wolf was convinced I was the one to blame.
Only Stella looked surprised to see the Enforcers.
Clearly, she had no idea what had happened outside.
The lead Enforcer gave the shouting pack a cold look.
Then he asked, slowly and clearly, “So you’re all saying that Cora just made a fatal error inside the advanced healing room, which caused the Luna’s death?”
The pack answered in unison, without a shred of doubt.
“Yes! It was her!”
The Enforcer let out a cold laugh.
“Well, that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”
He pulled out his phone, held it high, and turned the screen to face the entire pack.
“Then all of you, take a good look at this.”
The moment she saw the screen, Stella’s pupils shrank.
The color drained from her face.
The pack’s expressions changed instantly.
The entire hallway fell silent.
