The Floating Comments Showed Me His Real Feelings Chapter 07

(She’s SO annoying! Callum is obviously greeting someofie he knows. She doesn’t actually think that smile is for HER, right?]

[SIENNA IS HERE!! The second she shows up he has eyes for nobody else. Maren better not be delusional enough to think she can hang on and ruin this.]

[Callum is SO in love with Sienna! They just need one little push. Having the ex around actually makes things easier lol. I hope she keeps helping them get together!]

[If that’s how it works then yeah, keep her around! Let her do the heavy lifting for our couple!]

As if I wanted to help them!

These comments were unbelievable. They had the whole thing backwards.

When Callum and I were still together, their precious Sienna was the one who came crawling back to steal

him.

How come nobody called HER the homewrecker?

I looked up again. Callum was talking to Sienna, close, heads tilted toward each other, looking way too cozy.

Tessa, completely clueless, grinned at me.

“Callum looks totally lovesick!”

“Did he come all this way for you?”

“You guys are totally getting back together, right?”

“Back together?! We already broke up!”

“That woman next to him? She’s his girlfriend now. His first love. They’re happy together.”

Tessa shook her head.

“No way.”

“He doesn’t look at her like that.”

“If they’ve known each other that long, how come they never got together? Callum’s basically campus royalty. Everyone tracks his love life. Even people completely out of the loop like me haven’t heard a single thing about him dating anyone new.”

Tessa grabbed my arm and pulled me to a different angle, pointing.

“Look. There’s enough room between them for Jesus.’

That caught me off guard.

From my original angle, they looked like they were practically on top of each other. But from here, there was a clear gap between them.

Had I really been standing at the one exact angle that made it look worse than it was?

I must’ve been staring too hard, because both of them looked over at the same time.

Callum’s whole face lit up.

Tessa elbowed me.

“See that? That’s not how you look at a friend. You see who he actually likes now?”

My eyes shifted to Sienna, and the comments flooded in.

[What is WRONG with her?? Why is she staring at Callum and Sienna like that?? She’s not about to do

something crazy, is she?]

[That’s what desperate exes DO. They throw themselves at the couple for scraps of attention and then get

wrecked.]

[Bet five bucks if she gets any closer she’s speedrunning her own downfall.]

[Lol obviously?? Every third wheel ends up disposable. This one’s extra hateful, though. She put Callum

through so much. She NEEDS to get destroyed.]

The insults kept pouring in, wave after wave, all aimed at me.

But something clicked. The comments always showed up at exactly the right moment.

Every time I wavered on Callum, they’d appear, and I’d pull away, just like they wanted.

But nothing they threatened had actually happened to me. Not one thing.

If this world really was a story, did I have to let some writer with a grudge, or a crowd of strangers with

opinions, decide how it ended for me?
