The Alpha Princess They Destroyed Chapter 05

Two days later, Zoe’s welcome ceremony was held at the Alpha 

estate. 

From the second–floor balcony, I looked down and saw how 

much Liam loved her. 

Nearly every elite family on the continent had come. 

“Ember.” He walked over and handed me a speech. 

“You’ll be speaking too. Just read what I wrote for you. Can you manage that?” 

I didn’t even look at it. 

“Sure,” I said with a faint curl of my lips. 

Only then did he reach out and ruffle my hair. “Good. That’s 

more like it.” 

Then he turned and headed downstairs. 

When he stepped onto the stage and picked up the microphone, his voice carried through the hall. 

“Thank you all for attending Zoe’s welcome ceremony. Zoe was lost for eighteen years and has finally been brought home. To me, she is a treasure unlike any other in this world.” 

He spoke with naked tenderness in his eyes. 

A beam of light fell onto the grand staircase, where the girl slowly descended. 

I looked at them once, then went back to my room and took 

out the gasoline I had prepared in advance. 

[Don’t be afraid, Host. I’m here. It won’t hurt.] 

The system’s voice was unexpectedly gentle. 

I was silent for a moment, because it wasn’t death that 

frightened me, but living here. 

[Since your mission is almost over, there are a few lies I should 

clear up for you.] 

I frowned, not understanding. 

Before I could ask, it continued. 

[Zoe is not Shadowpine Pack’s biological daughter. The 

original owner of this body, Ember Sullivan, is.] 

“What…?” My pupils contracted sharply. 

Then I laughed, the sound thin and absurd. “So what was all of this for, then? Everything I went through… what was it?” 

[Zoe deceived the entire pack. The Moon Goddess did not 

intervene because she saw that you had fallen in love with life 

in Shadowpine Pack. You loved staying by your Alpha brother, 

Liam Sullivan. But you are of the Moon Goddess’s bloodline. 

You were always meant to return to the Judgment Realm.] 

“So all of this was to make me see clearly? To make me willing to go back?” 

[Yes.] 

I wiped away my tears and, without another moment of hesitation, poured gasoline all over the room. 

As I listened to Liam’s voice echoing from downstairs, I 

smiled one last, resolute smile. 

Then I threw the lighter to the floor. 

With a boom, the fire surged up like living vines and wrapped 

itself around me, devouring everything. 

Downstairs, at that exact moment, Liam suddenly clutched at 

his chest. 

The pain hit so hard that his face went pale. 

“Liam, are you okay?” Zoe asked. 

He drew a shaky breath and forced a shake of his head. 

Then, still holding the microphone, he said, “Next, my other 

beloved sister, Ember, will come up and say a few words as 

well.” 

Everyone waited, yet no one came down the staircase. 

Murmurs broke out at once.. 

“What’s going on?” 

“Is Ember unhappy that her place was taken?” 

Liam’s face darkened. 

He was just about to order the butler to drag me downstairs when, amid the restless chatter, someone suddenly cried out. 

“Is something burning?” 

“I can smell it too!” 

“Look upstairs!” 

Heads tilted up all at once. 

Liam still hadn’t registered it when a maid let out a piercing 

scream. 

“Ember’s room is on fire!” 

His whole body jolted. 

He looked up, and in that instant it was like the air had been ripped from his lungs. 

The guests panicked and stampeded for the doors. 

“The fire’s huge! Run!” 

The grand hall dissolved into chaos, filled with screams, shoving, trampling feet, and furious shouting. 

In all that madness, only one person stood frozen in place. 

He stared blankly at the burning second floor. 

The flames reflected in his eyes, turning them red. 

“Liam!” Zoe finally reacted and grabbed his arm. “Run! The fire’s going to spread!” 

He shuddered violently. 

“Ember!” 

With a roar that shook the entire estate, he shoved Zoe away. 

Then, in front of everyone’s stunned eyes, he ran against the 

crowd and charged for the second floor.
