The 100 Rules Dating the Male Lead Chapter 02
Bullet comments popped up: 【Dude grabs the side chick’s hand right when the female lead shows up, huh?】
【Dumb tsundere with no mouth. Serves him right to suffer.】
I stopped in my tracks.
Caspian deliberately raised his voice, “I don’t like Seraphina anymore. I only like you. You… uh…”
He was trying hard to remember my name.
Seraphina looked at Caspian and let out a sarcastic laugh. “Such a child.”
Then she walked away, swaying her hips, arm-in-arm with her new senior boyfriend.
Caspian scowled at their retreating figures, squeezing my hand way too tight.
I calmly whispered in Caspian’s ear, “My name is Elowen Vale.”
Caspian snapped out of it and looked at me awkwardly. “Sorry, I…”
I pulled my hand away and calmly cut him off, looking through my glasses, “Repeat my name.”
Caspian’s brain short-circuited, but he followed orders and said it.
“Elowen.”
His voice was really nice.
Wouldn’t be a loss to have him chasing me.
As for whether I like him? I couldn’t care less.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
After two weeks of him “coincidentally” running into me, I finally accepted Caspian’s friend request.
According to the bullet comments, I was supposed to get caught by Caspian within the first month.
Then he’d dump me for being too boring and prudish.
But here’s the thing: only I know
that I’m actually a total handful with sky-high standards. I’m just good at hiding it.
Since he’s chasing me on a bet, there’s no reason for me to pretend to be the sweet, docile girlfriend.
At the bar,
Caspian scowled at his phone.
When he was chasing Seraphina, at least she’d text back. Elowen? Sometimes she’d reply instantly, sometimes after an eternity.
And he had no idea what he’d done to piss her off lately.
Three days, no reply.
Even after he sent her a gift!
His buddy laughed, “Still haven’t bagged that broke girl yet?”
Seraphina was singing a duet with her current boyfriend, throwing Caspian a smug look.
Caspian immediately shot back, “As if? She’s got standards, unlike some people who go through boyfriends like tissues.”
Seraphina didn’t get mad. Instead, she just smiled sweetly and pecked her boyfriend on the lips.
Caspian stormed out.
Everyone in the room exchanged knowing glances at Seraphina.
The bullet comments told me everything.
The next day, I got a delicate necklace.
Caspian texted: 【Saw you liked a similar style on your insta. Like it? It’s for you.】
I noticed something interesting.
Every time Seraphina pissed Caspian off, he’d throw money at me.
His ‘liking’ me was pretty obvious, which is why Seraphina never got mad about him being nice to me.
But that pissed me off.
Because Seraphina would just look at me all smug.
Are these two seriously using me as part of their little game?
I texted back one word: 【K.】
No obligation to coddle a guy.
If he can’t catch me in three months, that’s his problem.
Just like I predicted.
Because of that bet, Caspian went from casually chasing me to being super careful.
He realized something weird: whenever he ran into Seraphina,
I’d go radio silent. Like I had a damn tracking device on him.
He couldn’t help but confront Seraphina, “Are you talking shit about me to Elowen on purpose?”
The smile vanished from Seraphina’s face. She studied Caspian’s expression. It wasn’t his usual jealous look.
Her face went stiff, then she scoffed, “What, afraid people will find out what a player you are?”
They had a huge fight and went their separate ways.
Bullet comments scrolled: 【Two months in and the male lead can’t even get a date with the side chick. Lmaooo.】
I scrolled through Caspian’s insta.
Caspian cares a lot about his image.
If I keep rejecting him into the third month, he might actually get vindictive.
I’ve always wanted a boyfriend who’s considerate, puts up with all my high-maintenance crap, and showers me with cash.
But I don’t want anyone knowing I’m a handful, so I have to act sweet.
Caspian actually fits the bill perfectly.
He’d never tell anyone about anything embarrassing. In fact, he’d probably lie to save face.
Like right now, he’s bragging to his friends, “Elowen is totally whipped for me. She’s just shy, that’s why she didn’t come out to meet you guys.”
His buddy praises him, “Damn, Caspian. You barely even tried.”
“You really over Seraphina?”
Caspian, being petty, says, “Seraphina? Who cares? I’m worried Elowen would get jealous, so I haven’t even seen her face lately.”
Then another guy’s voice: “For real? No wonder you didn’t even ask when Seraphina and her boyfriend broke up.”
Caspian looked stunned.
“She broke up?”
