Not All That’s Broken Can Be Fixed Chapter 06
Raven couldn’t help but laugh and squeezed my hand. “You’re still just as impatient as you were when we were kids. We’ll get married as soon as you’re healed up. Mom and Dad have already taken care of the wedding plans, so don’t you worry about a thing, Christian.”
I ended up spending three full months healing under Raven’s strict supervision before she finally let me be discharged from the hospital. I had been meticulously looked after and cared for, but the burns on my body inevitably left permanent scars.
Raven saw me spacing out as I looked at the scars and reassured me gently. “You have nothing to be worried about. I’ve found the leading expert in scar removal for you. If we take the recovery step by step, there won’t be any scars left later on.”
“I want to keep them,” I said, shaking my head. I needed the scars to remind me of the pain Abigail, Ethan, and Owen inflicted on me. I then looked up at Raven and asked, “Do you find them ugly, Raven?”
Raven leaned over to place a gentle kiss on my scar before looking up at me with a smile. “Of course, I
don’t.”
Third-Person POV
Abigail frantically swiped the cups off the table, sending them shattering across the floor. “What did you just say? Christian’s father is dead?”
Jeremy Stone, the bodyguard, handed the death certificate over to Abigail and replied, “That’s right, Ms. Southall. Mr. Fuller’s father passed away a month ago. Mr. Fuller handled all the funeral arrangements
himself.”
Abigail looked over the death confirmation multiple times in disbelief. “How can that be? Why didn’t I know anything about this? Why didn’t Christian tell me?”
Jeremy looked up at Abigail, hesitating for a second before explaining, “You see, on the day Mr. Fuller’s father passed away, you were with the Lincoln twins for their birthday. You were busy getting Mr. Ethan to the hospital and assembling a whole board of specialists after he got burned by the fireworks.
“Mr. Fuller’s father didn’t receive medical intervention in time because of that. We even checked Mr. Fuller’s call logs from that night. He called you repeatedly, but you kept rejecting his calls, Ms. Southall.”
Abigail staggered and almost lost her footing, barely managing to keep herself from falling.
Jeremy caught her in time to support her, continuing, “Mr. Fuller’s father had been relying on our company’s specialized medication to stay alive all these years.
“Mr. Fuller’s father went nearly six months without the medication he needed to manage his illness ever since you made the executive decision to divert that medication to the Lincoln twins’ father instead.”
Upon hearing that, Abigail’s heart started pounding wildly. She then asked Jeremy with a trembling voice,
“Is there still no news of him?”
Jeremy replied, “We have already dispatched additional manpower to search, but there is still no news of Mr. Fuller. We only know that a helicopter appeared around the villa at that time. It was too dark that night, and we were busy putting out the fire as well, so we didn’t pay much attention to it.”
It was then that Ethan and Owen walked in, laden with shopping bags, completely carrying themselves like two noble, wealthy young heirs. They approached Abigail in their custom-tailored suits. They sat down on either side of her, pressing their bodies close against her.
“What’s going on with you, Abigail? How could you leave the two of us abroad and come back by yourself first? Do you have any idea how worried we’ve been?”
“You don’t even know how many difficulties we encountered on our way back to the country. If it weren’t for having you in our hearts all along, we almost wouldn’t have been able to hold on, Abigail.”
Abigail cast a cold glance at the luxury goods they had bought. She then signed a check with complete indifference and threw it right in their faces, saying, “Get out.”
Ethan and Owen were stunned. They looked at Abigail in disbelief and asked, “What is this supposed to mean, Abigail?”
Upon staring at their identical faces, Abigail felt nothing but irritation. Christian was the only one on her mind at the moment, and she missed him terribly. She wanted to see Christian’s smile. She wanted to see Christian and Sparky romping around in the yard. She suddenly recalled that they had actually killed Sparky.
Abigail’s patience with the Lincoln twins wore thin. She sneered and asked, “What do you mean? You know exactly what’s going on. What are you pretending for? You obviously want to use me to climb social ladders, yet you’re intentionally stringing me along.”
