My Stepsister Livestreamed My Billion-Dollar Wedding Gown Chapter 10
She froze.
“You went live and cried, telling everyone I hogged the gown and humiliated you.”
My voice stayed soft, but steady.
“You turned the whole internet against me. I lost everyone I loved. I died alone in a rental apartment.”
Talia stared at me like I’d lost my mind.
“W…what are you talking about… what past life…”
I smiled.
“You don’t remember.” I spoke each word slowly and clearly. “But I do.”
“This time, I came to watch you die.”
Hale lunged toward the barrier and roared at me.
“Gwen! Stop spouting nonsense! I swear, if you don’t get us out of here now, I’ll hurt you once I’m
free!”
I looked at him, the man I’d treated as brother for twenty years.
“When you threatened to ruin my fashion showcase next month, did you ever imagine this
moment?”
He fell speechless.
“You said once trouble hit, we’d claim I broke the gown myself, and no one would believe me.” I
repeated his words calmly. “Do you believe it now?”
Hale’s face shifted between pale and flushed.
Sterling finally lifted his head, eyes red.
“Gwen… I know I wronged you… but can’t you think about how long we’ve known each other…”
“Known each other since childhood?” I cut him off. “For my birthday, you gave me that necklace. Talia liked it and ripped it right off my neck. When I came to you to settle it, you told me she was young and I needed to be patient.”
I kept my gaze on him.
“Sterling, was there ever one time you stood on my side?”
He opened his mouth, but no words came out.
I glanced around the interrogation room at these three people who were once my closest family and
friend.
One cried, one shouted, one begged.
It mirrored my helpless, isolated state right before my death in the past life.
Only this time, they were trapped in here, trapped with no escape.
I turned to walk out.
Behind me, Talia screamed at the top of her lungs.
“Gwen! Don’t leave! If you go, we’re done for!”
I didn’t look back.
Mom and Dad were held in the second interrogation room.
The moment Mom saw me, tears streamed down her face. She stretched her hand toward me through the metal barrier.
“Gwen! My sweet girl! I knew you’d come! Think of something. I’m too old for this place!”
Dad sat in the corner, saying nothing.
I stood at the door and watched them.
Mom kept talking, saying Talia was still young, Hale was the family’s main provider, Sterling was innocent, that this was all just a misunderstanding.
“Gwen, you have such a kind heart.” She wiped tears away. “Talk to the Jett family. We’ll pay damages, we’ll apologize. Just get us released…”
“Pay damages?” I spoke. “Thirteen million dollars for the gown, plus the losses from crashing the Jett wedding. Mom, where will you get that kind of money?”
Mom froze.
“Do the Voss family even have enough assets to cover it?” I watched her. “Or are you planning to push me forward to take all the blame again, just like before?”
“No!” Mom panicked. “I would never-”
“That’s exactly what you did in my past life.”
I cut her off, my voice turning cold.
“Talia destroyed my reputation, and none of you said a single word to defend me. I died alone in
that rental apartment.”
I met her eyes.
“This lifetime, it’s your turn.”
Dad finally lifted his head, cloudy eyes locking onto mine.
“Gwen…”
“Dad.” I turned to him. “When Talia smashed my piano when we were young, you said she was little and I should be patient. You threw the piano away.”
I paused.
“The day that piano left our house, I lost my father.”
His lips trembled, unable to form any words.
I turned and walked out of the interrogation room.
Behind me, Mom screamed in heartbroken sobs.
“Gwen! Come back! How can you be so cruel!”
I walked down the detention facility hallway without slowing my pace.
Eighteen years.
I should have left this family long ago.
Three days later, the ruling on the Voss case was handed down.
Talia, Hale, and Sterling were criminally detained for criminal property destruction involving a massive amount of damages.
Mom and Dad were investigated as accomplices and guardians.
Voss family businesses shut down overnight.
Hale’s company was sealed. Sterling’s family boutique was forced to close. Talia’s livestream account was permanently banned.
The whole internet turned on them.
The same viewers who once flooded the comments calling me ungracious and jealous of Talia now
hurled harsh insults at her.
[Entitled brat gets what she deserves!]
[Serves her right!]
[How dare she touch a million-dollar wedding gown!]
[The whole family is awful.]
I shut off my phone and did not read further.
All that hatred had been directed at me in my past life.
Now it was returned to them.
I sat in my atelier and looked out the window.
The Voss corporate building stood across the street.
Workers were removing its large sign piece by piece at that moment.
Storefronts downstairs were covered with official seal stickers, one after another.
The fans and fame Talia had spent her whole life chasing vanished completely.
That was the end result of spending a lifetime stealing everything she wanted.
I pulled my gaze back and continued stitching beadwork onto my new wedding gown design.
