My Stepsister Livestreamed My Billion-Dollar Wedding Gown Chapter 09

I blinked in surprise.

“Yes.” I replied. “But Hale said the family won’t pull any industry connections for me.’

“Connections?” Kian let out a dry laugh. “Why would you ever need the Voss family’s

connections?”

He pulled a business card from the inner pocket of his suit and slid it across the table toward me.

“The Jett Group owns a high couture brand. We’re looking for a creative director.”

I stared at the card and didn’t move.

“Name your annual salary. Name your share of equity.” He looked at me. “I only have one

condition.”

“What is it?”

“You handled today’s situation brilliantly.” He said. “You turned a completely hopeless situation

around in forty minutes. I’m not letting talent like you walk away.”

I looked down at the card.

Jett Group.

The Jett family, the wealthiest household around.

This was the opportunity countless designers fought desperately to reach.

And now it sat right in front of me.

I thought back to my past life.

Back then, I had nothing. No praise from Kian, no business card, no job offer.

All I had was the ruined reputation Talia left me with, and my death in that rental apartment.

This lifetime, I simply stood back and watched, then seized the chance when it arrived.

I reached out and picked up the card.

Kian smiled.

“Smart girl.”

I slipped the card into my bag and turned toward the door.

“Wait.” Kian called out. “The wedding just ended. Where are you going?”

I didn’t turn back, only spoke over my shoulder.

“To the detention facility.”

He raised an eyebrow. “What for?”

I stopped walking and finally faced him.

“To see my family one last time.”

He watched me and said nothing more.

I pushed the door open and stepped outside.

Night wind washed over me.

Most guests had left the reception. Flowers lined the red carpet, swaying gently in the breeze.

I walked along the carpet, my high heels stepping over fallen petals, each step steady and slow.

Behind me lay the perfect wedding ceremony.

Ahead lay the detention facility.

I knew Talia and the others would cry, beg, scream, and dump all their blame on me once more.

Just like in my past life.

But this time, I would not look back.

In my past life, I died in that rental apartment, with no one to bury me.

This lifetime, I was alive.

I stepped out of the venue gates. Streetlights stretched my shadow long across the pavement.

My phone rang at that moment.

It was a call from the detention facility.

“Ms. Voss. Your family members are extremely agitated in the interrogation room and are requesting to see you. Are you able to come over?”

I held the phone and looked out at the scattered lights of Veyra City.

“Yes.” I said.

“I’m on my way now.”

The hallways inside the detention facility were cold and long.

The five Voss family members were separated into holding rooms. Talia, Hale and Sterling were kept together. Mom and Dad were placed in another room.

I reached the interrogation room door and heard Talia screaming from inside.

“I need to see Gwen! Let me talk to her! She has connections to the Jett family, she can fix this!”

Hale’s voice was angrier.

“Gwen! You bitch! You set us up! Just wait until I get out of here, I’ll make you pay!”

Sterling huddled in the corner, hugging his knees, muttering to himself.

“It’s all over… my family’s boutique is finished…”

I stood at the small window on the door and watched them.

These three people were my little sister, my older brother, and my childhood best friend.

They destroyed my past life.

This lifetime, they reaped what they had sown.

I pushed the door open.

Crying and shouting cut off instantly.

Talia rushed forward, grabbing my hands through the metal barrier, sobbing uncontrollably.

“Gwen! Gwen! Save me! I’m your sister! You can’t abandon me!”

Her hands still bore scratches from when the gown ripped. Tears and snot covered her face.

I stared at her hands gripping mine.

These were the same hands that dragged me into ruin in front of the whole web in my past life.

“Gwen!” When I stayed silent, she cried harder. “I know I messed up! I really do! Please beg Mr. Jett for me. Tell him I was just young and foolish!”

I slowly pulled my hands away.

“Talia.” I looked straight at her. “Do you remember how I died in my past life?”
