Mission Fail: Kill Me Now Chapter 04
The sudden voice made Lucas’s hand shift just an inch, and just like that, I failed to die again.
I sat blankly on the hospital bed, my eyes dull and unfocused. I didn’t want to just sit there and wait to be erased. If I could die ahead of time, then maybe I could return to my original world and see my family and
friends one last time.
Quietly, I made my way up to the hospital rooftop. However, right as I was about to jump, I glanced down and saw the dense crowd below. I turned around, planning to find somewhere else, when I realized
someone was standing behind me.
“Why aren’t you jumping? Is this not a good spot? Chloe, if you don’t actually want to die, then stop putting on this disgusting act.”
The man looked at me with mockery in his eyes.
Leo Wolfe was my third target and the man who once pursued me. He came from a powerful family, but his parents were biased. They were determined to force him into an arranged marriage just to benefit his
older brother.
Back then, when he was being forced to marry a middle-aged woman and couldn’t take it anymore, he tried to jump off a building. I risked my life to save him, thinking it would just be a passing moment. Instead, he became like a shadow behind me. He was cold and distant with everyone else, but with me, he was attentive. Slowly, my defenses began to crumble. To help him break free from his parents’ control, I even handed him a project worth billions, just so he could take back his freedom.
The night I was finally ready to accept his confession, on his way to meet me, he got into a car accident that hit Hannah. At that time, his affection level for me had reached ninety-nine percent. However, in just a few days of taking care of her, his heart shifted. After that, he never once mentioned being with me
again.
My mission failed again. By then, I was already used to it. I planned to stay far away from Leo, but things didn’t go the way I expected. Hannah, who had been caught cheating by Leo, turned around and accused me of orchestrating everything. After she disappeared, I was the one left to bear all of Leo’s anger. Over the past few years, he had tried more than once to send diseased men and women into my bed. He was determined to make my life hell.
I stepped past him, trying to leave, but he grabbed my arm and dragged me back toward the edge of the rooftop. Half my body was shoved over the ledge. In his eyes, there was a flash of unhinged hatred.
“Did you ever think this day would come, after scheming against Hannah? Chloe, you should’ve died a long time ago. The others might be soft on you, but I’m not.”
Just then, Casey and the others rushed onto the rooftop. When they saw me, a flicker of concern passed through Casey and Finn’s eyes. They were just about to speak, but Hannah’s tearful voice cut in first.
“I don’t blame Chloe for what happened back then,” she said. “Leo, don’t do anything stupid. She’s only acting like this to get your attention. If you just spend more time with her, she’ll be fine. It doesn’t matter if I have to put up with a bit of hardship. Chloe, if I ever did anything to offend you, I apologize. Anything
you want, I’ll give it to you. Please just stop this, okay?”
Then, she bowed her down.
I was confused, but before I could react, she suddenly stepped forward, grabbed my hand, and threw her
body outward, over the edge.
“Hannah!”
Four voices shouted at the same time.
In a panic, Leo shoved me away and grabbed onto Hannah’s hand. The other three rushed forward as well, all reaching for her. No one paid any attention to me as my body was pushed completely past the
ledge. As I fell, I calmly closed my eyes.
I thought, ‘Finally, I can leave. Just please don’t let me hit anyone innocent on the way down.’
Hannah was held tightly by four people, and I fell all the way from the rooftop to the ground below.
