Listening to My Unborn Baby, I Became the Elite Darling Chapter 01
The only heir to the richest family in the Republic of Kairos had been drugged at a private party.
And by pure bad luck, I became the cure for his problem.
After one reckless night together, I thought we’d never cross paths again.
Then I found out I was pregnant.
Apparently, I was ridiculously fertile.
When Julian Sterling finally tracked me down, my best friend Tiffany Vance immediately urged me to get an abortion.
“Don’t sell your dignity just because he’s rich,” she said.
I was just about to listen to her when a tiny voice suddenly echoed in my head.
[Great. Same disastrous start as last time.]
[My idiot mom listened to that snake Tiffany, turned down Dad’s fifty-million-dollar check, and raised me in poverty. Then Dad’s psycho first love burned us both alive.]
Wait.
Julian Sterling was offering me fifty million dollars?
Why didn’t anyone lead with that?!
***
“If you agree to have his baby for money, how is that any different from prostitution?”
The second Tiffany finished speaking, the baby’s voice popped up again.
[Only my clueless mom would take advice from this fake friend and throw Dad out before he even had the chance to pay her.]
The voice sounded soft and childish.
The insults were absolutely brutal.
I immediately shoved Tiffany aside and hurriedly pulled Julian into my apartment.
“Mr. Sterling, what exactly was the arrangement you mentioned?”
Expressionless, Julian pulled out a check.
“Fifty million upfront for prenatal care. After the child is born healthy, you’ll receive another fifty million as compensation.”
Tiffany’s face turned red with jealousy.
“Clara! Throw him out! Don’t let him humiliate you with money!”
I stared at the check and swallowed hard.
My parents were ordinary small-town people who’d spent years buried in debt just to put me through college.
Being “humiliated” with fifty million dollars sounded like a blessing from heaven.
I had no idea what had been wrong with me in my previous life, but in this one, I obediently accepted the check.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Sterling. I’ll keep everything completely confidential and safely deliver the baby to the Sterling family.”
The baby sounded stunned.
[Did Mom suddenly grow a brain?]
[Dad’s family has terrible fertility issues. The fact that he even got someone pregnant is basically a miracle.]
[And Great-Grandpa Sterling has always wanted a great-granddaughter. If Mom plays her cards right, she’ll end up living like royalty.]
Tiffany finally snapped.
“Clara Miller, have you no shame? You’re literally selling yourself for money!”
When she tried to snatch the check away, I quickly hid behind Julian.
“This is my baby, and of course I’m keeping her. What mother wouldn’t want her child to have the best life possible?”
Tiffany lunged at me again, but Julian’s bodyguards dragged her out of the apartment without mercy.
Julian glanced at her coldly.
“You should stay away from friends like that.”
The baby practically cheered.
[Dad’s awesome.]
[Too bad Mom’s usually so gullible. She believes anything people tell her. Honestly, it’s exhausting watching her.]
Okay, okay, sweetheart.
I’ll listen this time.
I immediately nodded obediently at Julian.
“I’ll move tomorrow. I’ll cut ties with all the toxic people in my life and give the baby a healthy environment to grow up in.”
