Left in a Horror Game, Adopted by the Boss Chapter 06
A massive screen appeared in midair.
In the footage, I was covered in blood, hauling Dad-who had a broken leg-toward the safe zone.
Lily stayed right beside Mom, clutching three healing potions.
Those were the team’s only remaining potions.
I tried to ask Lily for one, but Mom stepped between us.
“Lily has no talent. We have to save the potions for her.”
In the next scene, a monster pierced Mom’s chest, and her HP dropped to zero in an instant.
I crushed my revival item without a second thought, but the monster slammed me into a wall.
The system had a clear record of everyone’s HP.
I was at 2%.
Lily was at 93%.
She hid in Mom’s arms and wailed that she was dying, but a faint white light flickered on her talent
panel.
Her data had been changed to 1%.
Mom stared at the screen in disbelief and turned to Lily.
“Lily, you said you didn’t have a talent back then!”
Lily’s lips trembled, and tears streamed down her face.
“I don’t know. Maybe the system messed up.”
Dad immediately stepped in front of her and said darkly,
“Even if Lily had more HP, she had no way to protect herself.”
“Nora had an SS-rank talent. We had no other choice.”
No other choice.
I’d heard that line more times than I could count.
The first time I cleared a low-level test dungeon, the system rewarded me with ten thousand
points.
Mom and Dad used those points to buy Lily a safe room and left me with a cracked short knife.
When I asked why, Dad said Lily’s biological father had saved his life. Our family owed her.
Later, when Lily took a dungeon test exam, Mom made me organize all the clues for her.
When she got first place, everyone praised my parents for being so grateful, for raising their benefactor’s child so well.
I stayed up three nights in a row, but I wasn’t allowed to touch the cake.
Mom said that was Lily’s achievement, and I had no right to take it from her.
Another time, the game academy released the test-player potential rankings, and I was ranked first
in the city.
Lily locked herself in the bathroom and cried all afternoon because she didn’t make the list.
Mom forced me to ask the school to hide my name, then put my trophy in Lily’s room.
She said family doesn’t need to draw such clear lines. My achievements could belong to my sister
too.
The footage kept playing.
When the emergency exit appeared, Dad didn’t ask anyone. He directly altered my permissions.
Mom put a clearance bracelet on Lily and told me to keep holding off the monsters.
The next shot showed me pinned in place by the immobilization item.
The livestream exploded.
[Nora saved all three of them, and they still said she deserved to be left behind.]
[Lily was at 93% HP and faking like she was about to die. Gross.]
Mom covered her face, her whole body trembling.
“I didn’t know she only had 2% left.”
I said quietly, “The system announced it three times.”
Her crying stopped cold.
Boss pulled up the final record.
In the three years after the test server shut down, the Hart family never filed a single rescue
request.
Everything they said about searching for me for three years was a lie.
They used my first-clear points to buy property and high-tier player status, then told everyone had died in the dungeon.
Another silver contract spread open in the air.
Dad had signed it.
[Original guardians voluntarily abandoned rescue efforts for a period of thirty days.]
The other one had been filed by my Boss Daddy.
[Dungeon Boss Adoption Application: Approved.]
Dad stared at the contracts. His face went white.
He knew exactly what it meant now that the truth was out.
After a moment, he suddenly grabbed my hand.
“Nora, if you just sign a voluntary stay statement, we can still fix this.”
