How could Liam seriously bring such a pathetic excuse to Sam?
Yet, to my surprise, Megan actually believed him.
She looked back and forth suspiciously between Alan and me before suddenly snapping at me. “Flynn, I thought the worst you’d do was get jealous and throw a little tantrum. I never imagined you’d stoop this low!”
Everyone else was stunned. They stared at Megan with expressions that were impossible to describe.
I could practically see the word “embarrassing” written across Sam’s face.
Finally, he could not take it anymore and snapped, “Enough! You’re the president of a company, yet you’re shrieking here like a hysterical woman. Have you lost your dignity?”
Megan’s face instantly flushed red.
She opened her mouth to defend herself, but Sam continued, “When we established the branch, I personally instructed Flynn to install monitoring software on every computer. If you’re questioning the authenticity of this footage, does that mean you’re suggesting that I fabricated it?”
Both Megan and Liam froze.
Neither of them had expected that to be the truth.
Sam snorted. “As for why Flynn is here, it’s because I invited him! I wanted the two of you confronted with the truth face-to- face. Megan Grant, you’ve truly disappointed me!”
Cold sweat trickled down Megan’s forehead.
Her eyes darted between Sam and me.
She clearly could not understand why an orphan like me would have such a close relationship with the chairman, or why he entrusted something so important to me.
Meanwhile, Liam was furious. “You two set me up?”
Alan scoffed. “If you hadn’t done anything wrong, how could anyone have framed you? Instead of blaming everyone else, you’d be better off turning yourself in and accepting the consequences.”
Liam opened his mouth to curse at Alan, only to notice that Peter had taken out his phone to call the police.
At that moment, the shrill sound of police sirens suddenly came from outside.
Liam’s face went deathly pale. “You… Just you wait!”
Then, he turned and bolted before finishing his sentence.
Sam merely frowned. Peter immediately sent someone after him.
As Liam fled the scene, Megan stood frozen in place, completely dumbfounded.
She knew that once the truth came out, neither of them would escape the consequences.
However, she never imagined that Liam would simply abandon her and run.
Seeing the look on her face, Alan decided to tell her exactly what her dear assistant had done over the past six months.
He laid out everything, including how Liam had sabotaged his brother’s business relationship with the company.
In the end, he gave her a cold smile and asked, “Ms. Grant, do you still think your assistant is an ‘exceptional talent”?”
The blood drained from Megan’s face until she was as pale as a ghost.
Yet, she still stubbornly refused to believe it. “No, that can’t be… Liam isn’t that kind of person…”
Sam let out a heavy sigh and turned to me. “What a foolish woman. I never should’ve listened to you and put her in charge of the branch.”
The words landed like a bombshell.
Megan froze for a moment before her eyes widened. “Mr. Davis… W-What did you mean by that?”
Sam ignored her.
Beside him, Peter spoke instead. “Years ago, Flynn’s mother saved Mr. Davis’ life. He’s never forgottert that debt of gratitude.
“Later, by coincidence, both of you applied to our company. Mr. Davis originally intended to promote Flynn to the position of president, but he refused. In addition, he even gave you credit for all his accomplishments and let you take the position instead.”
It was Megan’s first time hearing all of that.
She stared at me in disbelief. “Why didn’t you ever tell me?”
Back then, Megan had been treated terribly by the president. She had been both physically and emotionally overwhelmed.
