His Assistant Called Me Ugly, So I Toppled His Dark Empire Chapter 09
I smiled faintly. “See? That’s emotional infidelity. How can that not count as betrayal?”
“You were never good to me. It’s only natural that I stopped loving you.”
“I’ll never forget those nine slaps you ordered. I will get even with you sooner or later.”
I turned to leave with Enzo.
Leonardo blocked my path.
“I’ve fired Isabella. She’s gone forever.”
“Sophia, let’s make up and stay together. Please give me one more chance. I’ve truly repented.”
He lowered his stance and begged repeatedly.
He had always stood high and mighty as the Don of the family. Now he was reduced to a humble supplicant.
But I felt nothing for him.
“I’m tired after all these years. Most importantly, I don’t love you anymore.”
Tears streamed down Leonardo’s cheeks the second I finished speaking.
For years, I was the one who cried alone in secret. Now the roles were reversed, and I felt indifferent.
Leonardo held my hand tightly. “I will do every single thing you did for me, ten times over. Let me make
amends.”
“It’s useless.” I pulled my hand free. “Nothing can fix what’s broken.”
I turned toward the door with Enzo. I paused and glanced back.
“I will order my people to stop targeting your family.”
“But my retaliation against you is just beginning.”
I strode out of the room.
I took a deep breath after walking outside, and the heavy oppression in my chest finally faded away.
Enzo looked at me. “No second thoughts at all?”
“I let go completely the moment we signed the divorce papers.” I replied.
“Why were you in my room anyway?” I asked suspiciously.
Enzo scratched the tip of his nose awkwardly. “It’s not what you think. You were drunk and asked me to walk you back to your room. You kissed me first, I only responded.”
Memories of that night came flooding back. My face burned with embarrassment.
“Don’t mention it,” I mumbled.
Three months later.
I lived in a new apartment on Long Island. One day, I received a letter sent from the Federal Prison.
Leonardo was in prison.
It was all my doing.
I had collected plenty of evidence of his illegal acts. Any single piece was enough to send him to jail.
A while ago, Isabella tried to run him down with a car out of revenge.
She failed. Leonardo dodged the vehicle, only to reverse the situation and run her down.
The case went to court. I anonymously submitted all the evidence I had prepared.
Leonardo was convicted and sentenced. The entire Rossi family collapsed completely.
There were only three words written on the letter.
I AM SORRY.
I laughed softly, tore the letter into pieces and tossed the scraps into the fireplace.
