Leonardo froze on the spot. The female voice was one he could recognize anywhere.
“Who’s there?” A cold voice rang out.
The lights were switched on. Leonardo’s eyes swept the room, and he flew into a rage instantly.
He clenched his fist and rushed forward, punching the man hard in the face.
“What the hell have you done to her?”
Enzo was caught off guard. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and smirked.
“We’ve done everything between a man and a woman.”
I wrapped the quilt tightly around myself, my head fuzzy from alcohol.
Leonardo’s eyes blazed red with fury. “Who allowed you to touch her?”
He raised his fist to strike again.
I stepped forward and stood in front of Enzo. “Try to lay a hand on him.”
Leonardo’s voice choked with emotion. “Do you know how long I’ve been searching for you? How could you fool around with another man here? Have you forgotten you’re my wife?”
“Wife?” I let out a cold laugh. “We’re already divorced. What kind of wife am I to you?”
“You were the one who chased me, who asked me out, who proposed to me!” Leonardo shouted. “Now you throw everything away like it’s nothing? What do you take me for?”
“I won’t allow this divorce. Come back to New York with me right now. We’re canceling the divorce
application.”
He reached out and grabbed my wrist to drag me away.
Enzo grabbed my other wrist to stop him. “Respect her choice. She doesn’t want to go with you.”
I shook off both of their hands violently. “I made those choices, yes. But why can you only take what I give,
and never let me take it back?”
“You were the first one to betray me, the first one to hurt me.”
“I never betrayed you!” Leonardo refuted loudly. “I never held hands, kissed or slept with her. How is that
betrayal?”
“Is holding hands and sleeping with someone the only definition of betrayal?” My eyes turned red. “You
indulged her to act recklessly beside you, let her use your phone to insult me, knelt down to tie her shoelaces and let her take photos of you. You even let her slap me nine times.”
“Can you swear you never felt even a little bit of affection for her?”
Leonardo’s face turned ashen. He stood rooted to the ground, speechless.
