He Was Never Shy, Just Not With Me Chapter 07

He Was Never Shy, Just Not With Me Chapter 07

After hanging up the phone, I effortlessly blocked his number.

An overwhelming wave of relief washed over me.

Lying back on the soft, spacious bed, breathing in the fresh air carrying the scent of the grasslands,

I realized I had finally said goodbye to my past and the youth I spent on him.

Suddenly, a text message from a friend flashed on my screen.

[Look what I managed to catch on video today. I tapped open the video clip, and it turned out to be

the absolute farce that took place at the hotel earlier.]

Logan Reynolds was standing in front of another couple’s wedding welcome sign, fully dressed in

his groom’s suit.

Hailey Brooks stood right in front of him in a long, pure white dress, blinking her eyes with a

pitiful, aggrieved expression.

Logan was gently stroking her hair to comfort her, looking incredibly intimate.

The expressions on the faces of the coworkers standing around them were a kaleidoscope of

judgment.

“Didn’t they say today was the wedding for the boss and his fiancée?”

“It’s someone else’s wedding day, yet Hailey shows up in a white gown with her hair done up updo-style-does she honestly think everyone else is an idiot?”

“Do you think she’s the exact reason the actual bride called off the wedding?”

“What a homewrecker.”

My friend added a commentary text:

[The public’s eyes are wide open!]

[I heard Logan’s parents actually got into a massive screaming match with the real groom’s relatives and friends. It was profoundly humiliating.]

[Honestly, I’ve wanted to tell you this for a while-every time we invited him out, he always had an excuse to bail. There was always something seriously wrong with that guy.]

[You managed to cut your losses and walk away just in time. You are incredibly brave and amazing!]

A few days ago, when I called everyone one by one to notify them that the wedding was cancelled,

they had all showered me with blessings. And of course, they hadn’t held back from heavily criticizing Logan either.

Some of them had tracked down Hailey’s profile.

They began relentlessly spamming her comment section.

[So you finally managed to steal someone else’s man, huh?]

[I heard those women’s bracelets were an “employee reward” handed out by the boss/]

[Oh, by the way, out of all the women involved, only one of them actually works there.]

At first, Hailey desperately tried to delete the comments one by one. But for some reason, the platform’s algorithm suddenly pushed her video into a massive wave of traffic; the comments kept flooding in faster than she could delete them, forcing her to take down the entire post.

Suddenly, a notification popped up in my DMs.

I tapped it open to find a photo.

A tangled mess of bedsheets, pale skin, and intertwined silhouettes.

Right on the nightstand in the background stood our engagement photo.

My fingers trembled with pure rage.

She followed it up with a provocative text: [Cat’s out of the bag. Yeah, we’ve been sleeping together for a while.]

What a pair of absolute scumbags. How did Logan have the absolute audacity to look me in the eye and claim there was nothing going on between him and Hailey?

Utterly shameless.

Since they chose to go this low, they shouldn’t blame me for playing dirty.

I opened my Instagram and posted it straight to my feed, uploaded the photo she had just sent me, and meticulously drafted a comprehensive post detailing the exact timeline of Logan’s infidelity.

Then, I forwarded the post directly to Logan’s parents and every single person who had previously judged me for calling off the wedding.

The only reason I hadn’t deleted their contact information until now was to clear my own name

when the time came.

Originally, out of respect for our five years together, I had intended for us to have a clean breakup.

I never expected Logan to lie to me over and over again.

He had lied so much that he had actually brainwashed himself into believing his own excuses.

The two of them were literally tangled up in the same bed, yet he still genuinely believed he hadn’t crossed the line or betrayed me?

Suddenly, an unknown number flashed on my screen as a call came through.

I didn’t even need to guess to know exactly who it was.

The moment I picked up, Logan barked at me in a raging fury.

“Nora Vance, are you trying to drive someone to suicide? Take that post down right now!”

“I just had too much to drink that night, and we accidentally ended up passing out in the same bed. She took that photo when I was asleep. My conscience is completely clear-if you refuse to believe me, there’s nothing I can do about it.”

“But Hailey is literally hysterical right now, crying and threatening to jump off a building to prove her innocence! Do you honestly want a human life on your hands?”

There he was again, slapping labels on me.

Every single time he stepped up to defend Hailey, he always made sure to take a degrading swipe at me in the process.

But this exact same tactic carried absolutely zero power over me anymore.

“If you’re truly that worried about Hailey’s life, you can just go ahead and marry her tomorrow. I’m sure she’ll be jumping three feet in the air with pure joy.”

“Get one thing straight through your head: her life is on you, not me..”

Logan’s breathing turned incredibly heavy on the other end of the line.

It sounded as though he was forcefully compressing his rage just to keep his voice level.

“You never used to be this malicious and bitter. Those friends of yours have completely corrupted you.”

So that was it. That was the real, underlying reason he had always resisted meeting my circle of friends.

He deeply looked down on them.

All because we were girls who had fought our way out of a small, forgotten town?

“I haven’t become malicious, Logan. Your non-stop deception is what made me furious. You slepi with her, and you publicly kissed her on video-am I not allowed to be angry?”

“Logan, I never realized until now just how hypocritical and double-standard you truly are.”

“You claimed you had social anxiety and were terrified of strangers. What exactly did you think my friends were going to do-eat you alive or beat you up?”

“Yet when it comes to Hailey’s gatherings, your social anxiety magically vanishes into thin air? You looked perfectly well-practiced singing love song duets with her, and you seemed to handle those drinking games like an absolute expert!”
