He Drugged Me On Our Wedding Day And Married His Ex Instead Chapter 02

I had just dried my hands when my phone buzzed.[中式语序]

After drying the water from my hands, my phone rang.

[Monday morning. I’ll take you to get the marriage license.]

[Okay.]

After sending the brief reply, I got up and went to the bedroom to pack my things.

That’s when I found a piece of clothing in the closet that didn’t belong to me.

It was sexy and revealing, crumpled into a wrinkled ball as if someone had stuffed it there in a hurry.

Looking closer, I noticed dried stains still clinging to the fabric.

The bedroom door creaked open, and Grant walked in.

The moment he saw my reddened eyes, he understood.

Calmly, he took the garment from my hands.

“Maybe Brandon or one of the guys brought their girlfriends over and someone left it behind.”

I lowered my head, my hands trembling slightly.

Not because I was heartbroken, but because I felt sick.

Grant obviously got me wrong.

He reached over and stroked my hair affectionately.

“Emily, do you know what I like most about you?”

Before I could answer, he supplied it himself.

“Obedience.”

I’d heard that word countless times over the years.

Obedient, mature, well-behaved.

Like a cat. Like a dog. Anything except a person.

“Sabrina is in the past. Giving her a wedding was just my way of making it up to her. Don’t overthink it.”

He patted my head the same way someone would pet a dog.

Just like years ago, when he’d casually decided to sponsor me.

With one wave of his hand, I’d been taken from Red Creek Hollow and sent to study in Grinard.

But whenever Sabrina shed a tear, I was shoved right back into the corner, left to be mocked by the rich kids around us carelessly and casually.

Like garbage being kicked around for entertainment.

“Anyway, get some rest if you’re tired. Sabrina wants to remove her wedding nails[Bridal nail 不够地道], so I’m taking her.”

Maybe it was the sting of always coming second, or maybe it was that tiny piece of pride I’d never managed to bury, but I suddenly grabbed his wrist.

“Can’t you stay?”

Just once.

If he stayed, even once, maybe it’d prove I mattered.

Grant froze for a second. Then a trace of helplessness crossed his face.

“I already promised her.”

But he’d made countless promises to me too.

He’d promised to take me to the doctor for my severe cramps.

Promised to visit my grandmother’s grave with me.

Promised to spend a birthday with me.

But every promise had fallen through.

“Oh. Okay.” My voice sounded almost practiced.

I released his wrist.

For some reason, Grant grabbed my hand instead. His tone softened.

“I’ll bring you that cheesecake [更自然]you love when I get back.”

But desserts were the one thing I hated most.

Tears shimmering briefly in my eyes, I smiled.

“Thanks.”

Grant never came home that night.

Later, Sabrina updated her social media.

Just a photo. A simple peace sign.

But I instantly understood what she was trying to say.

It was meant for me.

Just like years ago, when Grant had tossed me aside because of her.

Back when I was locked inside a restroom and beaten so badly I couldn’t stand, she’d stood over me with that exact gesture.

A mocking and humiliating signal meant only for me.

Her caption was: [Like a little bunny, right?]

The people in the comments didn’t get it.

[It’s your wedding night. Who cares about some bunny?]

[Come on, tell us. Is Grant as good as everyone says?]

Sabrina replied almost immediately. [He is. Very good.]

I scrolled past it without expression and opened the hospital app to book an appointment.

A rash had spread across my body since yesterday.

The sleeping pills were clearly triggering an allergic reaction.

I’d scratched my neck until thin lines of blood appeared.

The doctor gave me an injection and spoke sternly.

“You absolutely cannot take sleeping pills again. Your body can’t tolerate them.”

“I see.”

I picked up my medication and headed out.

Then I ran into Grant in the lobby. His hand was wrapped around Sabrina’s.

When he saw me, surprise flashed across his face, but he didn’t let go of her hand.

“What’s wrong?”

“An allergic reaction.”

Grant nodded casually. He didn’t ask what caused it or how serious it was.

Instead, he sighed.

“She moved while getting her nails removed and injured her finger. I brought her in to get it treated.”

His voice was full of concern, as if Sabrina had suffered a major injury.

I glanced down.

The cut was barely visible. It had already scabbed over.

Sabrina snorted and pretended to be annoyed.

“That’s because you kept distracting me. Otherwise this would’ve never happened.”

Grant chuckled. Then he apologized good-naturedly. “Fine. My bad.”

After that, he turned to me. “You should head home.”

I nodded and started toward the exit.

Before I’d gone far, Sabrina’s voice rang out again.

“Look at her. She has rashes all over her face and neck. What if it’s something contagious? You should have her get a full physical.”

“She already had one before.”

“Before is before! I’m thinking about you here. Why aren’t you taking this seriously?”

Grant answered lazily, “Fine. I’ll have her do one tomorrow.”

The way he said it was so casual, like scheduling a vet appointment for a dog.
