He Drugged Me On Our Wedding Day And Married His Ex Instead Chapter 01

On the day of my wedding, I woke up six hours late.[“slept through six hours”表达不自然]

By the time I rushed to the venue, my fiancé, Grant Whitmore, had already staged the entire ceremony with his first love.

He took one look at my sweat-soaked face and smiled.

“I was the one who drugged you. Sabrina wanted a wedding. It’s not a big deal, so I gave her one.”

As if worried I’d cause a scene, he added lazily, “Just behave. We can still go to City Hall next week and make it official. [自然润色]Besides, making a fuss now won’t change anything.”

He glanced at the bride.

“See? Even if she takes off the dress, it still wasn’t made for your size.”

My gaze landed calmly on the wedding gown which I’d spent nearly six months choosing.

The entire room held its breath, waiting for me to explode.

Instead, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.

Good to know. I’d regretted this engagement for a while now.

My ex had proposed with a ten-carat diamond ring.

At least now I didn’t have to return it.

I left before the reception toasts even started and went straight home.

My neighbor looked stunned when she saw me.

“Emily, what are you doing here? Weren’t you getting married today?”

I’d spent months planning that wedding.

Everyone knew about it, which meant there was no way to hide the humiliation when everything fell apart at the last second.

I unlocked my door without stopping.

“We’re not getting married. He’s busy,” I replied calmly.

Yeah. He was busy giving his first love the wedding she’d always wanted.

A flash of sympathy crossed her face.

Thankfully, she didn’t ask any more questions.

The moment I shut the door behind me, I rushed into the bathroom.

The second I opened my mouth, I started throwing up.

I vomited until there was nothing left in my stomach.

Only then did I collapse beside the toilet, completely drained.

I had a moderate adverse reaction to sleeping pills.

Grant knew that, yet he’d given them to me anyway.

The fact that I’d even woken up today was pure luck.

As I stood at the sink rinsing my mouth, my phone suddenly exploded with notifications.

A group chat, one that both Grant and I were in.

[Grant’s a legend. Did you see that? She showed up and didn’t dare say a word.]

[Seriously, how’d he train her? She’s so obedient it’s unreal.]

[She’s an orphan. Plus Grant’s rich and powerful. What’s she gonna do?]

The chat erupted with laughing emojis.

Then someone asked, [So… you think Grant’s even coming home tonight?]

The replies came instantly.

[Are you stupid? Anyone with half a brain knows he’s not. What do newlyweds do on their wedding night?]

A stream of crude jokes followed.

Then suddenly Ethan Brooks, Grant’s best friend, jumped in.

[You idiots are drunk. Wrong chat! Emily’s in this group. Delete everything!]

The group immediately descended into chaos.

But most of the messages were already too old to recall.

Someone found the whole thing hilarious.

[So what if she sees it? You really think she’d dare say anything?]

I remained calm while reading them.

I just got up and made myself something to eat.

Just as I finished the last bite, the front door swung open.

Grant stumbled in, reeking of alcohol.

When he noticed I wasn’t greeting him like I usually did, he chuckled softly.

He walked over and loosely wrapped an arm around me.

“It was just a wedding.”

“Not exactly a life-changing event.”

Right.

Being humiliated in front of everyone hardly counted.

“You’re right.”

I stood up with my plate and slipped out of his embrace, heading into the kitchen.

Grant followed.

Something cool settled against my neck.

I looked down to see a sapphire necklace.

Still not my style.

It was Sabrina Hayes’s favorite design.

“Thanks.” I said, still washing the plate.[润色]

Grant seemed to relax. He leaned closer.

I lifted a hand and stopped him before putting the plate into the cabinet.

Then I smiled. “You forgot I’m allergic to alcohol.”

A frown appeared between his brows.

He stared at me quietly, as if he wanted to say something.

Then his phone rang. It was Sabrina calling.

His expression brightened instantly.

He answered the call and walked toward the study.

A second later, the door clicked shut, locked.
