Dear Don, We Can Never Go Back to 18 Chapter 09

Elena fell silent instantly.

Why was he digging up events from years in the past all of a sudden?

“I warned you not to upset her while she was pregnant,” Enzo said, his voice thick with rage.

“You sent that text on purpose, making her walk in on us in the Hotel Suite. What exactly were you trying to do?”

Elena’s eyes darted nervously to the side.

“That wasn’t me! I had nothing to do with any text!”

Enzo paid no attention to her lies and continued speaking firmly.

“Your first baby wasn’t even mine. You used that pregnancy to frame Ada.”

Elena’s face paled, but she still refused to admit the truth.

“You have no proof. These are just wild guesses!”

“You deliberately moved Leo’s birth date forward as well,” Enzo said bitterly.

“I remember your original due date was nowhere near that day. You lied and said you went into early labor at home and had to deliver him right away.”

“How did I never realize that day was the anniversary of Ada’s miscarriage?”

“You wanted to celebrate your son’s birthday every year on the day her heart broke completely. You wanted to rub her pain in her face, didn’t you?”

Elena stopped trying to deny everything. She grew angry instead.

“What is your problem now, Enzo?”

“The divorce is done and over with. Why drag all this back up? Are you regretting your choices?”

“If you miss her so badly, then go find her!”

“Let’s be honest. You knew exactly what was happening all along. You went along with every bit of

  1. Why play the righteous man now?”

She crossed her arms and paced back and forth.

“Everything has already happened. There’s no point in dwelling on the past. We could just move on

and live our lives.”

“You used to say you were happier with me than you ever were with her.”

“I’m afraid that will no longer be possible,” Enzo said quietly.

“What?” Elena blinked in confusion.

“You won’t get to live a peaceful life,” Enzo repeated.

“Because Ada is dead.”

Fear flashed across Elena’s face, and a cold chill ran down her spine.

“She died from stomach cancer,” Enzo explained flatly.

“Do you understand what that means? The stomach is tied to emotion. She lived in constant misery for four long years, until her body finally gave out.”

“Elena, she was perfectly healthy once. Back in high school, she was the fastest runner in the entire

school.”

“How could someone so strong and full of life develop terminal cancer so young?”

Elena stood there speechless, trembling with growing terror.

She had known Ada being alive would always linger in the background, easy to push aside and forget.

But the dead could never be forgotten.

Ada’s memory would stand forever between her and Enzo, an unbreakable barrier. Enzo would

blame her for everything that had happened.

Enzo stood up from the sofa.

“The two of us have to atone for what we did to her.”

Elena’s face twisted with panic.

“What are you saying?”

Enzo slipped on his coat and adjusted his collar, heading for the door.

“The wedding is off. You will never become Mrs. De Luca.”

“I’m sending Leo overseas to be raised by trusted guardians. You will never be allowed to see him

again.”

Elena screamed and rushed to block his path.

“You can’t do this! He’s my son!”

Enzo paused but did not turn around.

“He isn’t yours anymore.”

“And neither is the name Elena.”

Tears streamed down Elena’s face as she shook her head frantically.

“No, please don’t do this to me.”

“I’ve stayed by your side for four years as your mistress. I endured endless judgment and humiliation all for you.”

“Ada brought this illness on herself. None of this was our fault…”

Enzo did not stop or look back. He walked straight out the door and left her screaming behind him.
