Dear Don, We Can Never Go Back to 18 Chapter 08

Sofia looked away, unable to hold back her own tears.

“You were her whole world, Enzo. For ten years, all she ever did was love you, live for you, and stand by your side as your wife.”

“Her love never wavered for a single moment, but you threw it all away without a second thought.”

“The day you betrayed her was the day you killed a part of her forever.”

She pulled a thick envelope out of her bag.

“I thought it would be better for her to leave this world without ever seeing you again. But I changed

my mind.”

“You deserve to carry this pain for the rest of your life.”

She tossed the envelope onto the ground beside him and walked away.

Enzo’s hands shook violently as he tore open the envelope.

Inside was a single sheet of paper, Ada’s farewell letter.

Enzo,

By the time you read this, I will already be gone.

You and Elena are the ones who drove me to my death.

You destroyed me three times.

First, you destroyed my love. I got that anonymous text and caught you in bed with her in that hotel

suite.

Second, you destroyed my dignity. I never pushed Elena down the stairs, but you refused to believe me and locked me inside the Family Private Cell anyway.

Third, you destroyed my life. Loving you hurt too deeply, and my body grew too weak to endure it

any longer. The Lord has finally set me free from all the pain.

I hate you, Enzo. I hate you with every breath I ever took.

The day you cheated on me planted a sickness inside me that would never heal.

It’s cruel and unfair that I’m gone, while you and Elena still live happily.

I will never let you rest. Even as a spirit, I will haunt you every single day.

I curse the two of you. May you never know peace, not for a single lifetime.

Every line dripped with endless, burning hatred. She had died without granting him a single ounce of forgiveness.

He would never be able to make amends. He would never find redemption.

Enzo sobbed harder, his body trembling from head to toe.

He could not recall how he made his way back to the De Luca Family Mansion.

Elena had moved into the estate now, taking Ada’s place as the mistress of the house.

She chattered excitedly as she sorted through Ada’s leftover belongings.

“Enzo, can you believe how much private wealth she had? Three hundred million dollars!”

“This will make such a generous trust fund for Leo.”

“That old Nursery Room she kept can be renovated too. I’ll knock down the wall connecting it to the Private Study and turn the whole space into Leo’s new bedroom-”

She rambled on for a long time before she noticed Enzo sitting silently on the sofa, completely

unresponsive.

“Aren’t you listening to me?” She nudged his arm irritably. “What’s wrong with you? Are you actually thinking about that dead weight now?”

Old woman.

The words echoed sharply in Enzo’s ears.

When had Elena started referring to Ada with such disrespect?

Ada was the same age as him. She had loved him since they were eighteen, staying by his side for

ten full

years. She was only twenty-eight when she died, with her whole life still ahead of her.

A sharp, stabbing pain pierced his chest.

He lifted his hand without warning and slapped Elena across the face.

Elena stared at him in shock before letting out a shrill scream.

“Have you lost your mind, Enzo?!”

“Are you still putting on that act? The divorce is final now! Why hit me again?”

Enzo stared at her with cold, empty eyes.

“You sent that anonymous text to Ada four years ago, didn’t you?”
