Bought a Wolf Pup at the Black Market, Found Out His Father Is Alpha King Chapter 10
Chapter 10 Fire-TamingÂ
After Soren showed up, Dylan became the star of the school.Â
The kid seriously believed his daily wishes had worked and a great hero had dropped out of nowhere just for him.Â
That night before bed, he was still sulking and blaming me for sending him to buy things and making him miss the chance to meet his hero.Â
But by midnight, his forehead started burning up.Â
At first, I thought he’d just caught a chill from the wind that day.Â
Then the night got worse.Â
He started spitting fire.Â
Blue flames flickered from his fingertips, the corners of his mouth, even his ears, burning hole after hole through the bedsheets.Â
His whole body looked like a piece of glowing coal, something beneath his skin writhing and rolling.Â
[Unknown Number 1: Fire control. He awakened fire control at six years old. No surprise for AlphaÂ
King Soren’s son.]Â
[Unknown Number 2: He’s manifesting his power. It needs a parent’s blood to suppress it. This human woman can’t even control fire. If this keeps up, Dylan’s going to burn to death.]Â
[Unknown Number 3: All we can do is pray she notifies Soren fast.]Â
[Unknown Number 4: Soren’s at the border fighting the Shifter clans. Even if he comes now, it’ll be too late.]Â
I called Soren.Â
No answer.Â
I called Eugene.Â
No answer.Â
The flames on Dylan’s body grew from little bursts to full rolling fire, and the whole bedroom turnedÂ
hot as an oven.Â
I dragged him out of bed, wrapped him in wetÂ
towels, and carried him into the bathroom.Â
“Mom…” His voice was rough as sandpaper.Â
“It hurts.”Â
“I know. I’m here.”Â
I gritted my teeth, grabbed a knife from theÂ
kitchen, and sliced open my wrist.Â
Blood dripped into his mouth.Â
Almost instantly, the flames on his body eased aÂ
little.Â
[Unknown Number 1: How is that possible? Only a parent’s blood can suppress those flames!]Â
[Unknown Number 2: Who the hell is this woman?]Â
I didn’t know who I was.Â
All I knew was that my blood worked.Â
But the peaceful days lasted only two weeks.Â
Dylan started breathing fire again.Â
This time it was bigger.Â
Hotter.Â
More violent.Â
My blood didn’t work anymore.Â
Desperate, I rushed him to the hospital in myÂ
arms.Â
A round cat–shifter doctor came running out.Â
“Who’s the mother?”Â
“I am, but I’m not his real-”Â
She didn’t even let me finish.Â
She sliced open my other wrist and poured myÂ
blood into Dylan’s mouth.Â
“This is no time to be slow!”Â
The flames eased again, but the doctor frowned.Â
“It’s not enough. His bloodline’s too powerful. HeÂ
needs purer blood. You’re an ordinary human. YouÂ
won’t survive this.”Â
“There’s no other way?”Â
“There is.”Â
She hesitated.Â
“An old record says if a pup receives a fullÂ
blood–for–body exchange from the mother, theyÂ
can complete the awakening. But you’re human.Â
You’ll die.”Â
I looked at Dylan.Â
His face was red, his eyes shut, his tiny handÂ
clutching my clothes.Â
I pulled him close and whispered in his ear.Â
“Dylan, one day you’re going to be a great hero likeÂ
your father. You’ll protect the pack. This little fireÂ
power? I know you can master it.”Â
Then I picked up the knife.Â
Aimed it at the artery in my thigh.Â
The blade had barely touched my skin-Â
When the door was kicked open.
